how is this different from digital cable? it is that cable isnt required? I have some friends that would enjoy this if you can get it over a dsl connection...
piracy is not theft, in the criminal sense.You arent shoplifting to get tunes from the internet. Its infringing on anothers IP. This should stay a civil crime where it belongs.
what stops someone from getting a bunch of questions and spamming the people that emailed them asking for help? If they emailed you first its not unsolicited.
While I agree this is a nice step in the right direction - until we can get cars that 100% fuel themselves (not likely to happen) or can fill up with hydrogen/whatever at the local corner - I fail to see how these will get mass market appeal.
Xprize has shown that private spaceflight is possible, and can only get better from here...
I for one welcome the private companies, they have proven this is feasible.
I have changed several friends and family to mozilla lately, after cleaning viruses and other crap off their computer - they generally dont care what the browser is called as long as they can access the web. Do your friends a favor and upgrade them today:)
I think the do not call list is a great start - it dosent hurt telemarketers because guess what? If I want to get on the list I clearly dont want to hear from them, thus Im not a good prospect. Telemarketers should be thanking the government for putting all the people that dont give a crap about their calls together.
They need to step up the challenge, so now we know we can have private commercial spacecraft, where would we go? They need to make a second xprize to launch a private space station:)
I have met many professionals that are biased on the desktop programs they use because they are the "industry standard" and want to feel like a professional. I good example is photoshop, I have had several graphics designer friends say they wont use anyother graphics package regardless of features because "its not photoshop..." How can opensource apps with their underdog persona get around this?
Um, Id perfer to get my scifi without any reality at all. Perhaps a show about space cops saving kittens or something like that. We need more programming that allows celebs to go freakin crazy...
The main problem, as I see it isnt even with using this kind of technology fro copy protection - its the changes in software licensing that will come as a result of this. Think windows XP activation is a bitch? imagine quicken refusing to install because your new laptops trust chip is different...:(
Is there not a parody law in japan? I understand that certain factors determine if it is infact a parody, such as booble.com using googles trademark to make money in a deceptive way.
I wonder if walmart has looked into opensource options? From their business model its clear they value how much things cost...
Also, with those linux workstations they sell they must have some pull with dealers...
