Not that i could if i tried. I work in a photo center and the only time i sell a Sony camera is when someone comes in and asks for it specifically, and thats only if i cant talk them out of it. Most people will ask general questions about the brands and simply on technical merits i cant reccomend Sonys. Between their CCD issues and LCD issues in the past and then the fact that their cameras arent even competitively priced with what i consider the lower spectrum of cameras.
Regarding the price range they are in, i feel that you pay a bit of a premium for the Canon brand name (as well as nikon, but both are quality) i'll reccomend them over sony if someone wants something a bit more powerful than a Kodak.
It also doesnt help when people ask about what kind of memory cards they'd need for the cameras they're considering and i tell them that every camera we have except for the 3 Sony models (we dont cary fuji or olympus, but i still hate them too, XD cards are pefect at getting stuck in the SD card slots on the kiosks by idiot customers) take one type of card. Then i point over to the memory card display and we have 1GB SD cards for $20 and the cheapest (non sony brand) 1GB memory stick is $45. Then the sony brand memory sticks cost $.10 less for half the space of the lexar and san-disk ones... God we spend all day at work bitching about sony and now im at home bitching about them. Sony can DIAF, im gonna go play with my Wii.
I'm not a big fan of war, but that thing was pretty badass. Plans for all sorts of sci-fi tech, adaptive camoflauge, bio-monitoring, crazy HUD stuff in the helmet, basically a stillsuit underneath it all, liquid reactive body armor, all the way up to eventual exoskeletons... Shame to see it axed. That said, the guy they have modeling the crap in every picture i've seen looks pretty svelte for the role, i dont think speedskaters are the soldiers of the future.
No, they're flying off them. I work in retail, my store got 20 in @ launch (I was #12:D ) and have recieved about 10 a week since then, which would sell out by the end of that morning. We also get about 10/1 calls asking about the wii vs ps3.
Its still an extra step. I only have one friend with a wii, basically you have to go through a couple of menus to find your friend code, send it to them via some other means, and they have to send you theirs back, you have to know eachothers before you can communicate via the wii. Kind of a PITA, but its not too bad. Wish more of my friends had wiis though, theres only ever a few in my mii parade from the one guy...
Yeah, i have a brand spanking new reciever and the surround sound is fine with PLII. Yeah its not exactly the 6 discrete channels i get from DVDs or my HD channels, but its fine. Woulda been nice if the component pack (which i still have yet to get) had coax digital out, but its not a huge deal. Only a couple of times in zelda would better surround have been nice, but i dont sit in the middle of my speakers anyway, so it wouldnt have mattered.
And im still on the original batteries that came with the wiimotes, but i did pick up a rayovac charger and 2 4 packs of 2500mah batteries in anticipation as well as for my fiancees keyboard and mouse.
Best thing in the world. As others have said, the RAZR has a standard mini-USB port, so connection is real easy. MotoPhoneTools lets you move pictures back and fourth, use any MP3 as a ring tone, synch your contacts, and also back up the contents of the phone. Another sweet feature is that the gui for the program is basically your phone. it comes up in the corner of the screen, and not only that, but all your normal phone features are acessible through your computer. You can make calls with a mic and speakers, your speakers ring when your getting a call, you can even type txt messages with your keyboard. And the best part is, you can charge your phone through this too! I dont even know where my charger is, i just plug my phone into my computer whenever im in front of it.
Fils-Aime confirmed that Wiis connected to the Internet will automatically download surprise bonus material from Nintendo, but he wouldn't detail what kind of unexpected messages or channels might pop up. "I'd hate to ruin the surprise. Is there activity that we're working on for before the holidays? The answer is yes."
Interactive yule log for the holidays? Use the wiimote as a fireplace poker?
I have an original xbox and a 1080i TV, and i didnt get the component cables because there arent enough component ins on my reciever (got my system 3mo before the wii, left a spot for it) and it doesnt look great. Better than SD, but composite is limited, even the evox menus are hard to read at times, so i was a little worried about using my Wii on my HDTV untill i could get the component cables (which is hopefully next week), but i still brought it home that saturday night, hooked it up and hit power. I was immediately impressed, all the wii menus are incredibly crisp even through composite. Wii sports, although the graphics are primitive, is clean and sharp. Zelda looks pretty good, better than any xbox games, and i imagine everything will be that much better once i get the component cables. And you know what, after 5 minutes i stopped looking at the graphics, i was to wrapped up in playing the game.
I dont know about their new stuff, but my old Archos 20GB Jukebox was like that. Just mounted as another drive, let you organize stuff however you wanted with a standard directory structure, it was great.
I just got one, it plays everything i throw at it, whether on burned data dvd or my LAN, even 720p 5.1DD Xvids of Battlestar Galactica. My only complaints are that the UI isnt exactly designed for hundreds of folders and thousands of files, but most people dont have several TBs of TV shows, and that i cant find a good quality D4 cable, but thats because i dont speak Japanese... I guess the japanese release of it came with a DVI connector, but my TV only has one HDMI port and thats in use by my cable box, which gets used a lot more than the DVD player.
Back on topic, i have $500 earmarked for the Wii, games and acessories and i took off work on the 19th...:D
Although with a small nuke, or the right conventional HE, the island im looking at leaves me the option to hold the east coast and much of europe hostage and take over the rest of the world...
Unless you are reincarnated (tho one wonders why some bodies get recycled souls but others generate their own souls- does the old soul *KILL* the new soul to take over the body of a newborn?)
There would be no need for that, thats the point of the original article. The population is constantly increasing, there wouldnt be a surplus of souls, there would be a surplus of bodies. From the film "Waking Life", and the title scene of the film...
"Just about reincarnation and where all the new souls come from over time. Everybody always says they are the reincarnation of Cleopatra or Alexander the Great. I always want to tell them they were probably some dumbfuck like everybody else. I mean, it's impossible. Think about it. The world population has doubled in the past 40 years, right? So if you really believe in that ego thing of one eternal soul, then you have only 50% chance of your soul being over 40, and for it to be over 150 years old, then it's only one out of six."

People are going out to less movies because of wait for it... PIRACY!!!

Yes, from the John Madden school of business analysis.

So payphones are more secure than ATMs? I still always keep a $.25 tone on my MP3 players, more for nostalgia than anything else.
Well, 400k units sold by retailers and then 400k units sold on ebay, thats 800k, pretty close.
A real guitar has between 1 and 7 more strings than a guitar hero controller has buttons (not counting start and select).

If your story includes using this as leverage to take control of the HAARP array and via that take over the rest of the world, get out of my head!

And is he gonna be in the movie.:P

too. I remember some article on here about that a while ago.
But every damn retailer follows them because otherwise people like Jack Thompson would have their balls. Movie ratings are also voluntary.
Now get to work on HDCP!
Yeah, i've probably downloaded that amount in the past 2 days... Edonkey too, slow but steady.
A cell phone set on vibrate and a text message is very easy to read inconspiculously.
Which is why i bought a 30" 1080i CRT for $450.
