I'm a pretty big trek fan (currently watching all of it in chronological order), and these casting choices dont seem terrible. I hope the movie is better than the last two, although nemesis was kind of ok, but i think trek could use a rest. Watching/rewatching all of it has given me some perspective on all the series compared to watching them randomly in syndication on spike. So far IMHO, DS9 S4-7 > TNG S4-7 > DS9 S1-3 > TOS > TNG S1-3 > ENT S3-4 > VOY > ENT S1-2 > TAS. That may change, i may split voyager up, but im only on the first season of it/the third season of DS9 right now and i havn't seen an episode of voyager since it originally aired. General conclusions are still DS9 is the best, TNG is overrated, and ENT is very underrated. Oh, and Star Trek V still sucks.
DNA is far from perfect. Semen in a rape case, victims blood on murderers clothes, those are workable applications. But when you hoover a crimescene and test everything, suddenly people with even multiple degrees of seperation become suspects. You may not have commited the murder, but your eyelash was found on the victim. It fell onto that guys shoulder that you bumped into on the street. He's the murderer.
Every time this comes up, and people go "This isn't such a bad idea...", they dont stop to think, who decides what is porn?!? We cant even legally define it, "I know it when i see it." is not a valid system for this kind of thing. Other posters have touched on this. A whitelisted.kid TLD is a much better idea.
I'm pretty sure it is just a ROM dump with a good emulator built into the Wii. I cant give exact numbers, since its measured in "blocks", but there are no manuals, no additional content, nothing. The only thing i've seen different so on any of the 5 VC games i bought so far is on Super Mario 64, white lettering on a black screen "You must have the classic controller connected to play this game.", and thats the only game i have that requires it.
Its very small, but its still not as small as my RAZR, and considering all the other crap in my pockets, i dont need the added weight making my pants fall down. Its nice to have a camera with you at all times and not have the extra bulk of it. I was semi-involved in a car accident last week, once we all pulled over everybody whipped out their camera phones. Also for spur of the moment crap that i'd never have a picture of otherwise. Now if im doing dedicated photography, or am somewhere that i know ill want good pictures (holidays, some parties, etc), then i'll bring my good camera since its better suited to the task.
Hell, re-release those with modern graphics and upgraded online play (ala Half Life:Source) and they would sell all over again. I still play all three of those games and i cant remember a LAN party i've been to where we didnt get a game of starcraft going. Show me a gamer that doesnt have starcraft tucked away on their system somewhere.
This Comcast rethoric is no different, they want to lease a $30 cable box for $4 month ad infinitum.
Uh, i pay $15 a month for my HD-DVR/Digital Cable Box (a motorola Moxi, nice piece of kit, dual HD tuners, etc, although the charter version doesnt have the upscaling DVD player or network media functions built in, so i had to buy an Avel LinkPlayer, best damn purchase i've ever made though), IIRC, buying the box direct is something like $800, so that works out to more than four years of service before i've basically bought it. I dont plan to live here for that long, why would i make that kind of investment. And why would anyone else when its guarunteed something better (1080p support maybe) with a bigger hard drive is going to come out in much less time.
And i just got home from work about an hour ago. We got 6 60GB PS3s in today. Some guy returned one, so we sold -1 PS3s. On the other hand, sometime between when i got there at noon and when i took my first break @ 2, a half dozen each Wiimotes, Nunchucks and Classic controllers made their way to the floor (i picked up another nunchuck and a classic controller as soon as i saw them). By the end of the day there was one wiimote left. I cover in the electronics dept sometimes, and i had a shift there about a week after both releases, 10:1 the number of calls about the Wii vs PS3. Sonys lost.
I normally work in the photo center, so i have a million other reasons to hate sony.
Legend of Zelda, Super Mario 64, Sonic the Hedgehog... Toejam & Earl is coming out next week. According ot nintendo they're gonna be releasing the big titles on VC in weeks that there isnt anything good coming out for the Wii. So look for a lot more VC titles during summer.
I bought a cheap hammock without bars 2 years ago at wal-mart for my dorm. Under the loft, above the futon. Dont pass out drunk in a crappy hammock though, you will wake up with a sore neck. Or completely wrapped up and turned upside down in it as several people found out...

As for the topic at hand. 2.5d is where its at. I have a wii and a DS, and my DS and New Super Mario Bros gets more play time than anything else (since i beat zelda TP and am taking a break from FFIII). Its just fantastic classic mario and i'd love to see a return to platformers like that. Maybe start with a new sonic game that doesnt suck.
How many hundreds of dollars did i pump into that Aliens arcade game back in the day... bet my high score is still on there. The Landing hotel in Egg Harbor WI if anybody wants to check.
I know that, i find it annoying and imprecise and it runs counter to every other media player. Instead of click and drag, i want to be able to just click and the slider goes there.
My only issue with VLC is still there, why cant the slider go where you click it, instead of randomly skipping in the direction you click. Why cant you click ahead to whatever part like every other media player ever?!? And why cant i get keyboard media key support. Those are my only 2 complaints though, and i use VLC as my primary player, so thats pretty good.
Micros are a little too small, unless your a little kid. The DS lite is awsome. I have a wii, but i beat zelda already and red steel sucks, so untill i get more games (christmas) i've been back to playing New Super Mario Brothers and FFIII on my DS lite. Plus theres Meteos which is like upsidedown tetris on meth, which is awsome. Get a DS lite and New Super Mario, you will not regret it.
So i dont feel like googling, but i know at work we have this cable that has composite, L and R audio and S-Video on one end, and Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and 360 connectors on the other for like $15. Not a panacea, but itll help. You can find switchboxes with 5 ins for everything from coax to s-video for around $30 though.
Ok, i did search, they have 2 listed on amazon, but neither are in stock and neither have a brand name listed...
