Typical Cali repsonse. I have plenty of job opportunities here in Michigan as a coder, and I like my scenery better. Let's see what Cali does deal with...Illegals, Roving Black Outs, Crappy Housing Prices, Fires, EarthQuakes,Mud Slides, No Fresh Water Supply, Pollution, Crime, I mean come on when 15% of a countries crimes happen in 2% of its states you avoid that area. And your comparison of cost of living is way off base. What about groceries, Dining, going out to a movie? ANd for the record cars are much cheaper everywhere besides Cali because we don't have all those eco-nuts that casued you to have your own set of standards. I mean really why do you think Google is putting 1000 jobs of their 6000 member workforce over into Michigan...

Yet I have noticed more of our customers are dropping their Unix boxes and going with windows so I have to believe these reflect reality. Personally I don't see a real difference that would be worth dropping an existing server for, but it ain't my money. When will all of you redmond haters wake up and realize what you are spewing just isn't true anymore....Windows is a good platform and it helps me because most people use it giving me one platform to code to, both personally and professionaly. GO Windows!!!

I think this statement is true because of all the great science that has come out of individuals who are gifted, rather than the government just throwing money and resources at it. Maybe an extra birth of a genius every once in a while could give you a bonus adavance in the science department?

My shop has never lost any time due to worms, virus, or anything. We maintain the big 3 in unix, linux, and windows. We have 3 IT people and they have enough time to continually filter new gadgets out to us. Of course I doubt we have the stupid users that most IT departments have. But if its well run, Patching isnt that hard, and virus isnt either, Just cuase some sysadmins suck doesn't mean Windows is terrible. Like the man says if 95% of the desktops were Linux that is what virus writers woudl attack.

And this is where the vendors will profit. The cost savings if the RFIDs are actually used in the vendors wharehouse will be enormous, however if they just slap one on the case as its leaving the wharehouse to comply with walmart they are dumbasses. However if X has a market cap of 300 billion, chances are its not going up 20% anytime soon. And if Y had a market cap of 10 million and you thought it a promising company you would think the market cap has room to grow. You cannot take Market Cap at absolute face value but you should always look at it.
