It's called ROCKET JUMPING, and it's performed by firing the rocket into a surface and bouncing from the propulsion, not flying ON the rocket. I guess you haven't played enough Quake:)
On that point... I know more than a few people that SAW LoTR in the movie theater and still d/led a DivX/VCD after that because they wanted to see it again.
Movie tickets here cost ALOT of money (something like 7$) but still the scenes are full. Regardless of the amount of people that d/l DivXs... Also, most DivXs are of older movies, those that left the theaters already.
And guess what? My older brother got a DVD for a week and rented some DVDs, even tho he had those movies on DivX ages ago.
I never ever used Word/Word-clones since I got used to LyX. The fact that it formats everything right without wasting my time is great. It also has a really good hebrew support (with a patch).
I use it to write homeworks for the university I study in, got only good remarks on this.
The math support is one of it's greatest features! I don't use paper anymore for calculations. I use it alot as a math editor, even tho it wasn't "meant" to be a "whiteboard" but a word proccessor, it excels in this too:)
LyX -> ctrl-n -> ctrl-shift-m and start typing... no need to wait 10 secs for Word to load up and then 30 more seconds for the equation editor... also, the fact it has "TeX" mode in Math removes the need for toolbars... It's much faster to type \sum to create a Sigma instead of a toolbar to do that... also, instead of buttons for "subscript" and "superscript", there's the standart ^ and _...
Did I also note that when it rarely crashes, it saves your document intact?
Oh, and did I mention it's files (not final rendering) is extremly small?
More than a few years ago I saw on TV a game like this, where you begin as a fish, and as you relax more you become a human, and then start flying and getting to the stars....
That will simply make MMORPGs more "real life" than the outside.. The stories about EQers that believed the game world is the real world are common, something like this will blur the lines even more...
I've already thought of something like that a while ago. Think of space as a 3D object, easy, right? Now think of this 3D object as a plain. Now think of it as a ball. While the surface of the ball is the universe, the fact it's "3D" is time. Now think of this ball as a plain in time. Now you imagine a ball that has time/space on it's surface, and it's cycling.
Back to the first "ball", think what will happen if you could go THROUGH this ball. Think about a time/space flux, a worm-hole.
Now think of the 2nd ball. Since it's all repeating itself, think about going FORWARD in time for a whole cycle minus a year. You have just "travelled back in time"..
However, firstly, 3DFX don't really exist anymore. Secondly, I have a feeling that calculating and rendering the blur will take more processing power than just rendering double the frames. (or something on that degree)
Tell you the truth? I'm a gamer, and i've played tons of the new games, but when I got JDoom, I didn't stop playing it till I finished it. It's great! If you don't care for graphics / unrealistic maps, but for PURE atmosphere and gameplay, JDoom pays off.
"By the way, the screenshots reminded me a lot of the movie Aliens (the James Cameron sequel to Alien). I hope someone does a total conversion, or maybe they use the Doom III engine for an Aliens Vs. Predator game."
Man, don't wait, get Aliens VS Predator 2. It looks great and if you play as Human, in night, with headphones, you'll probably get a heart attack. It's really nice.
I'm pretty sure ID software will deliver quality as promised with the new Doom3. They intend on creating worlds where everything uses the same interface, everything will have dynamic lighting, everything will have pixel shading.
They said that the game will run at rates of about 30 with a GF3, not due to bad architecture, but maximizing the card can give. They said that the high end computers at the time of shipment will still run the game at around 60-70fps, stable.
Anyways, until u can't render stuff like Final Fantasy (the movie) in real time, you aren't there yet;)
Many people I know use pirated versions of 3DS-Max. However I don't think the creators really care that people use it for free.
Why is that? A license costs a bit over 3000$ (if i'm not wrong), and no home user / amatuer can afford that.
But after the user knows how to work the program, he gets hired to a big firm that buys alot of licenses for a huge sum of money. The program becomes very popular and is bought by many firms, since they know they can hire many of these pirates.
Who wins? The users (after breaking the 5-6 defences that are placed on the program), the program devs cuz their program is more popular and bought by firms and firms gain from very experienced users.
If u don't read it, u might not notice it tries to uninstall programs from your computer and can give full control over your computer resources for corporate use...
Just bringing up the latest/. news regarding KaZaa, RadLight and the such...
And obviously there will be some instruction to shutdown a specific cube which will consist of migrating the data to other cubes so no data is lost in the process. Then take it out, and place it at a different location, when it's connected, it'll auto-sync and migrate data to there if needed.
I also persume they'll make a system to auto-migrate files used more to the nodes closer to the "network out" cubes..
Obviously u got modded for "funny" but I think you might be right... as some people said here, complete intergration of cubes (storage, proccessing, outside network nodes, etc), you will create a huge computer with practically unlimited capabalities, add to that a self growing AI program and cubes that create other cubes........... whoops.
In the Final Tests in physics where I live, each school chooses 2 additional chapters to teach HOWEVER, there was a section for relegious schools.
I'm not joking about this, here's a question from there (translated, not sure about every word):
"If science shows that the universe exists for 10 billion years (not sure about the number here), and the relegion states it exists only 5000 years, how fast did the universe expand so that these 2 theories don't contradict?"
There were more of these, but I don't remember them now.
One screen running the game, the other one runs your work... Switching is instant. (If i'm not wrong)
Also there are always online webbased games like runescape, www.runescape.com which is a MMORPG running in your browser's window...
You are evil.
I understand that typo-nitpicking karma whoring is fun, but it's already boring.
/. has it's "typo-typo" posts...
They don't make so many mistakes... And well, it doesn't matter... Every story on
I understand that it's fine when you're ACTUCALLY FUNNY, but just rating a _generic_ "typo" post as Funny makes it hard to trust posts modded funny.

I thought of that issue too...

As already noted before, the fact movies are running at 30 fps doesn't mean 30 fps in Computer graphics are sufficient.
Life, as it is, is fluent "infinite FPS". When you capture life on video, you capture everything in that 1/30 of a second, including all movement.
If u look on a frame in a movie, u see that everything is blurry, but when it's all running, it's clear.
Computer graphics are created frame by frame, "like life", so to get the maximum fluidity, like in real life, you need this infinite FPS.
I might have written this draftly, but I simply can't find the page I read all about it.
I'm pretty sure ID software will deliver quality as promised with the new Doom3. They intend on creating worlds where everything uses the same interface, everything will have dynamic lighting, everything will have pixel shading.

$700???
Even less in most cases

Why not let Microsoft handle our bank accounts too?
True. I'm sorry... I haven't slept over 24 hrs when I posted it... Haven't taken my provigil lately ;)
