In my experience "key account managers" are the prime source for frustrations when they keep selling things we don't have at deadlines that are impossible to make. The problem is they are usually waged by how much they sell, the fact that we can't deliver isn't reflected poorly on them, but on the IT department.
Also calculating the total paid and thinking its expensive is just ridiculous, I mean, will he stop eating because he spent a lot of money on food?
I don't play WoW, but I play other MMORPGs, and the way I see it is I get 20-30 hours of play per month, sometime more when I got the time for $15. Its hard to find anything entertaining that costs around 0.5c per hour.
Actually I've been wondering about these injection attacks, I use positional bindings, everything run from stored procedures and using dedicated users - not super users; so its pretty much impossible to inject anything harmful to my system via. SQL - however, that does not guarantee anything for the users.
Are these attacks the old type with;-- (escaping the query) or are they just code embedded through postings, i.g. forums/discussions from poorly escaped input / code injection through get requests?
I pirate TV shows, not because I'm too cheap to buy them, but because when they finally hit the shelves here in Denmark its usually 3-4 years after originally airing in the US - if we get the offer at all.
For instance shows like High stakes poker and I bet you never airs on Danish television and are not available for purchase around here. Funny enough though DRM is in this case actually a reason for not getting my money, not because I choose to not buy DRM laden materials, but because the only region I can get my stuff in is 1/A and they won't play on my equipment.
And music/games/movies being cheap can beat pirated content, for instance I bought me a PS3, I have no idea if it is possible to pirate for it, because I don't care. I can shop games directly from the PlayStation at fair prices. Make it convenient and hazzle free and you will get your customers.
While getting the exact address is impossible except for remote locations, phishers really don't need it - if you know what neighborhood the machine is located in you can still make a very very "personal" offer just for this one surfer. Imagine someone seeing an "ad" from the local Wallmart including authentic pictures and whatnot claiming they have won a frequent shopper something or other - they just have to fill in some details.
The more personal the attack is the higher the likelihood of people falling for it.
Having multiple people developing the exact same functionality will lead to natural selection - this should be encouraged, this way we get the best of the best - yes it takes longer but rather that than some monolith like MS taking over making a crap out of everything.
You know, it is in fact possible to survive in most parts of the world without air conditioning. Yes I know it's shocking, but it's a fact of life.
Also computer power being negligible? Well yeah, if you drop enough money for good equipment. Most cheap ass computers comes with power supplies going at full capacity + cheap screens will likely send your power usage above the 300W, doing that 8 hours a day from home is far from negligible.
First of all, go see the world, lots of people speak excellent English. Second, Hollywood produces the best movies? Again, go see the world, Hollywood makes a load of crap - yes they top the box office figures, but who gives a fuck, the best movies made are not top grocers.
And your rant about infiltrating the society - go buy/loan "Legacy of ashes", read the part about how you yanks tried that in Iraq and look at the multiple clusterfucks you have made. We (the rest of the world) would appreciate it if you stopped meddling.
Didn't you just commit copyright infringement by copying their top search list?
Also, any content is copyrighted, it makes no sense to talk about them providing links to copyrighted content since any search engine is doing that. While I do agree with you, in that isoHunt can't claim ignorance you should be very very careful about the terms used when talking about copyright infringement.
Also, while he might laugh at our decision to buy PS3 (I just got my 80GB last week) - we can sit here laughing while he is in queue turning his Xbox in, hoping he only have to wait a couple of months to get his replacement.
Well since the siblings seems to agree with you, I'm going to disagree.
Yes standards are nice, in theory you can pick any single database you want for your project.
However, in the real world different databases excel at different things. For instance SolidDB trades features for speed - no other database performs like their in memory option (while staying ACID); MySQL is great for being a dumb advanced storage engine for stuff you want to save, but aren't critical, they gain speed by relaxing the constraints checks.
If all databases where to implement the full specification all databases would suck donkeyballs - like everything else you pick the tool for the job at hand.
Sigh. Why does people still insist on thinking global "warming" means it gets warmer?
No we have no conclusive fact that humans are the ones causing _climate change_ but the climate change is very real.
Travel around Europe and all will tell you same, weather isn't as it used to be.
It might be that we have no chance of changing the course - perhaps the sun is getting warmer and we can do squat about that - but what if taking the bike/public transport, turning off your equipment instead of standby did make a difference? You lost nothing and the world gained everything.
The 2 year warranty is guaranteed by law, distributors are free to do what they want on top of that, like my RAM has lifetime warranty; but those warranties are supplied by the manufacturer, not by the shop - the 2 year here is the shop, you hand it in they have to figure everything out.
And mindless sheeps? wtf? It's in the US you get that "option" of being screwed over; not sure how that part fits in with anything.
I thought they removed the limit on amount of reactivations you could do. I've installed my legal version of XP several times - even on different computers (upgrade paths) without a hitch.
WGA has never been a problem for me personally, but we did have an issue at an old job where it at some point decided our laptops where no longer legit, that was a bloody pain to fix.
No, you are just most likely American. The problem for you guys is as a customer you have next to no rights, very limited warranties removes the need to make proper products.
In EU however, most places now require 2 year warranty, that means all the good hardware is being shipped here because they don't want to be stuck with a customers problem 1,5 years down the road.
Again, you are not reading my comments correctly. You take everything personal, when you are seeking a job its just business, but suit yourself, I'm not the one looking for a job for 5 months...
I was thinking, never understimate the stupidity of people in large crowds.
Actually I think GP is right.

I didn't realize people could be so moronic, but hey, we all live and learn.
Also calculating the total paid and thinking its expensive is just ridiculous, I mean, will he stop eating because he spent a lot of money on food?

Thank you, NEXT!
I'd say BS.

Look up "Little big man" no human being would ever do that, so I wont talk to you.

Thanks but no thank you. I'd like to speak to fellow human beings; you know, face to face.
Holy crap are you ignorant or what???

Oh and we get to put Linux on our box.

Or even better; help those who have lost their memory to regain it, I can't think of much worse things to happen than to lose all memory.
And you know what, I have quite a lot of fun living my life - Am I rich? No, I earn decent amount of money, I can buy all the stuff I want.
Money doesn't make me happy, friends and my true love makes me happy.
Go see if your cash will give you a hug when you are feeling down.
You sound like it is a bad thing to use your money.
If I had a million bucks I would sure as hell make sure I had the most fun possible with the money.
Sigh. Why does people still insist on thinking global "warming" means it gets warmer?

Yesterday I signed up with Google, took me 7 tries before I finally got one right - almost gave up on it.
Erm... what?
