I don't think that the FAA really wants to require registration of the $50 pocket size quadcopters that you can easily hide in a backpack. They want people to register the bigger drones that are capable of doing serious damage if they crash into an airplane or a crowd of people.

You can thank the morons who have been flying these near airports and over major sporting events for these new laws. We didn't have this problem with RC Airplane pilots, but it seems that the lower difficulty of flying a GPS guided drone has attracted a new breed of idiots to the hobby.

  3. There is a potential evil genius to this... on Walmart Open Sources Its Cloud Platform To Take On Amazon (walmartlabs.com) · · Score: 1

Walmart and Walmart.com are probably starting to have problems making a decent profit margin on some products because Amazon.com is undercutting them on price. Amazon can do this because they don't have a giant store network with hundreds of thousands of employees to support, and they have a separate giant cloud hosting business to draw revenue from. They are also working on crazy new instant shipping options like bike and drone delivery that threaten Walmart's Brick and Mortar operations.

Walmart's solution? Try to put a dent in Amazon's hosting business by offering an open source cloud hosting option! If it's successful, you just forced Amazon to offer cheaper cloud hosting to fend off the new competition. Amazon now has less revenue for new R&D, which hopefully keeps them from further expanding into other product offerings that compete with Walmart.

If it works, it's a genius move. I'm not sure if they have the technical clout to pull it off, though. I guess that we'll have to wait for the code dump to GitHub to see.

  4. I think that you're being sarcastic, but there are already tons of laws on the books at the state level that say that gun owners need to keep their guns locked up and away from children.

Did we mention that you get a discount and some "free" downloads if you sign up for Prime? Come on, it's only $99 a year!

I'm sure that they'll make it difficult as hell to sideload apps and download content to the tablet via USB as well. No thanks, I'll pass on this one.

I never understood why they give you all of this parental time off during the first year, when the baby spends a lot of time sleeping and is mostly stationary. In parenting terms, that year isn't the hardest one to handle unless the baby is colicky and can't sleep well.

They should REALLY give you the extra time off when the kid is two years old and is trying to break anything that isn't either locked up or three feet off the ground every time you turn your back on them.

In Linux, entering killall gives you the syntax on how the killall command works. In the old version of AIX this system was using, it killed EVERYTHING with no warning and basically rebooted the box.
