Incandescent light bulbs. In regards to energy consumption, they are perhaps the most inefficient piece of technology today; and they are everywhere.
I for one am driven nuts by my dirty electronics! Maybe not so much a physiological issue as a mental one. I have somewhat sensitive hearing and can hear the electric hiss of a tube tv usually from across an entire house. Not to mention some computers. Drives me mad sometimes. It's like I'm hearing a dog whistle.
What drunk Christian is saying this? Christians believe there is an end coming, carried out by God. So....?@#?@$# are some Christians saying we should try to stop God from fulfilling the prophecy in the bible?!?!?!?!

Hey, My basis was almost entirely from personal observation and personal experiences (I'm a huge sceptic), but outside of that, there is MRI data, collected from youths playing video games, that show they are stimulated in the perceived "emotion" handling part of the brain. These numbers supposedly tappered off as ages approahed 24, at which they started to stimulate the "logic" handling part of the brain. This is not the study I had read, but it's similar.

Just to note, I said, "can seriously affect". Which of course means, that there are exceptions to this, just as there are to everything in life. I know that the violent behavior related to youths playing violent games is that exception.
This whole case is also an exception to the enormous amount of gun violence in the USA all together.
That's exactly what the lawsuit is trying to accomplish, but the intent, and this is according to a radio interview this morning with the lawyer, is to "cut out the heart" of this type of entertainment. Sony is only in it for the money, so the lawsuit is set up to attack the only weak point. Whether the lawyer only wants money or not doesn't really matter, it's the supporters that want to stop this unruly parent(Sony, Walmart, etc...) the only way they can.
And yes, sad as it is, GTA has become a parent to many children.
One parent of a girl shot to death in a similar incident said, roughly, "I raised her the best I could, sent her to a good school, knew where she was and what she spent her time doing, and if I'd only been a bad parent, she'd still be alive." That's a really rough quote, but he basically said that it's not his responsibilty to raise other kids. If video games with an "M" rating are being targeted and sold to children, and in their confused 11 year old world they bring the game into reality, there is nothing anyone can do about it at the level of raising their own kids. Really the only thing this guy CAN do is move out of the city and into no-man's land. That's screwed up.
You can point and blame irresponsible parents all you want, but eventually, if kids killing cops/kids continues, you have to find a solution! Find a freaking cause. Has everyone here forgotten what it's like to be ~11 years old? I knew a guy that jumped outta tree trying to fly and broke his arms, and another incident in which a friend I was with fell into a pool and was drowning in front of me and I didn't really understand what was happening. (Though luckily I do have responsible parents that had told me, if somebody is under water, come tell us about it. And they resuscitated him.)
The problem is, how are you to defend yourself from other kids with shitty parents? Shitty parents don't give a shit, hence the name. Well wait a minute, how about we don't sell a 12 year old a video game that shows him how fun it is to screw a hooker and then cut her head off to get your money. Personally, and I don't think I'm alone on this, I know all desktop operating systems suck.
I honestly believe that NO ONE can say that XP, OSX, or a Linux 2.6 system is, from a use ability standpoint, a better system than another for desktop use, considering system security, stability, and general use. They ALL have horrible issues.
How many machines do you know, that runs Windows XP, that has more malicious processes running than the number of software patent lawsuits filed today? I know several people that have cancelled their DSL connections and gone back to using paper, from this very problem.They buy an overpriced laptop/desktop at a local retail outlet, 6 months later, try to return it b/c it won't respond. So they just give up. It's disgusting that so many persons experiences are like this. Granted some pay to have their systems cleaned up, but most XP Home owners spend 99% of their computer experience, owned by adware.
To shorten this:
Linux, hardware compat/general use/software installation/lack of standardization(not saying it NEEDS it, but it holds SW installation back a bit)/games/and I think... too many separate projects(if there was more mass efforts into 1 or 5 apps, instead of chicken scratch efforts into 37 things would be better)

I'll stick my foot in my mouth on this one. Not that it doesn't have problems, but I last used Mac OS X a good while back and can't remember the details.... all I remember is swearing a lot. But games suck here too.
Well, not to debunk what you are saying, but did he mean not good at math in general? B/c that's different than being good in a math course. A simple example for a much more complex question: In my struggle to complete Calculus (Pre,1,2,3), it took a total of 7 courses(retakes) to pass. But those blasted ACT and career tests always gave me high results in math/calculus. But then again, I feel those tests are evil by nature. I haven't read the article though, maybe he did mean in courses. Whatever the case, I can't remember what a differential equation is.
