Man, that's even worse than in New Zealand, where we all have ADSL links through Telecom's monopoly, no matter which ISP you chose, since Telecom owns copper to households. Used to be very fast back when it was really expensive but they just kept signing up more and more people without upgrading hardware at their end.
These days I pay NZ$70/month for it with data capped at 15G (additional 5G chunks added automatically for $10). Speed is kind of OK, in average 6Mpbs down but sucks upstream - I never saw it faster than 1meg.
Now, this was just the intro to what I really want to say, since quite a lot of us are quick bashing China every time it is mentioned, in any context. Workmate of mine tells me that his parents, who live in 1.5 mil population city 100 miles from Shanghai, have 10Mbps / flat rate, all you can it ethernet to their living room for NZ$300 (US$225).
MS should be blamed for Windows design which is the reason for enormous number of various ways to fuck the computer up. They should also be held responsible for mass-production of MCSE-type engineers, who don't know much about what they do. You're right - it's not Windows that should be blamed.
They really used to be kings of FUD but this is laughable, at best. If it wasn't Microsoft, one could almost feel sorry.
They actually prove the point that MS never, ever invented anything and that huge ecconomical success was just due to a ride on top of monopoly wave. That doesn't cut it anymore - Apple and Free Software community are making supperior products already. Windows is in such a mess that MS is not able to make any real improvements without breaking everything and basically starting from scratch. This is the reason to sing 'software as a service' song - Windows is dead and their desktop market share will start shrinking soon. It is 90%+, so yes - wiles, l take some time but they are in trouble.
But they do claim that password cannot be cracked during the HD lifetime - I read that as an invalidation of their claim, should someone manage to break it.
Oh shut up. Do you really think Qantas didn't have vendor supported Linux?
My take on this is one of the following:
- Linux was already supported by IBM and they figured a way of making more money (licenses + hardware) - Someone at Quantas (perhaps lady from the article) has strong ties with someone at IBM and will earn a nice cut - They can't fix their application / database, so they figured they'll blame it on Linux and by some time
Just did some lookups - Rio Tinto Group has recently invested 20m Euro in research done at Jarandol Basin, in Kopaonik mountain region (that's south-western part of Serbia). No mention of "Kryptonite" but that's the most likely location - I doubt that Rio Tinto are mining elsewhere in Serbia.
You are absolutely right although there might be a bit of guilt on the other side, if MS didn't break functionality between last beta and vista release.
I mostly blame schools though. They are the ones who let the vista in without going through enough testing, Like they haven't experienced exactly the same with previous windows releases.
You're wrong - they will have heaps less trouble handling MS docs from Fedora 6 default install than from Vista w/MS Office 2007.
If they are going to "upgrade" to latest MS products, why do you think they won't be able to handle upgrade to modern Linux distribution? There is NOTHING too different in Gnome/KDE UI (apart from the fact that they'd get the additional benefit of customising desktop to their liking) that would take long adjustment period when switching from windowsXP.
two words:
steve
ballmer
Lots of people do, actually. Only n00b moderators don't.
He's done right. Stick with tried, unless you really need some RHEL5 features.
Furthermore, as long as your subscription is current, you get both channels and free iso images for both versions.
...and you're sure that's worse than Clark/Cullen private state?
STFU MSn00b
You don't have much clue about GPL / Red Hat, do you?

Per year.
Right, majority of windows users in particular...

Everything, I suppose.
Were you really happy to stay at the place like that?
Novell nice? They're just Ballmer's hore. Ask Jeremy Allison if you don't believe me.
Here we go...

Oh, Hilf - yes, we still exist. We are here!
Sure. They'll get exactly the same amount that SCO got.
Fuck you Gates.
But they do claim that password cannot be cracked during the HD lifetime - I read that as an invalidation of their claim, should someone manage to break it.
Maybe not but by the time it finally loads up, it will become totally irrelevant. All the species will be gone.

Linux not stable? Give me a break.

Is this the reason for only 2 [two] entries so far?
They do have good understanding of wallet vote, though.

Let them know that Vista is not compatible with Blackboard yet? Or as you do already, replace blackboard (moodle comes to mind).

Chosing 'Novell' Linux seems like a good start.
