    Every think of turning down the heat? I've got various systems in a storage closet, another
    Athlon system just outside it, and it's a very average 70 degrees in there. Basically the same
    temp as the rest of the house.

    "turning down the heat", is that a BIOS setting?
    Or should there be a jumper on the motherboard?

    I just wrote to my local MP voicing my objection to this. He is a member
    of the current government, albeit a mere backbencher at the moment.

    Here is hoping he doesn't tow the party line should they choose to tow
    the corporate American line.

    Windows 1..., MS C++, DOS, Notepad etc all started off pretty bad, but it was their persistance that made it all work.
    MS has the luxury of releasing something that doesn't quite work properly and just working at it till it has it right.

    wrong. two drives make for raid 1. Unless you are willing to risk losing 600 GB on a raid 0. Something like raid 53 is probably what most would look for.

    NOT if you are merely using them as a scratch drive to capture video to.
    I have two 80GB drives set up as Raid-0 to do exactly this.
