Grammar matters as a standard, and a person's ability to conform to the standard. In other words, you can often identify an idiot by his poor spelling and grammar. Or, perhaps more importantly, a person may be stereotyped as an idiot because of his poor spelling and grammar.
The phone companies do not want to empower you.
They want to enslave you.
They want to:
overcharge you for text messaging,
use up your minutes (and waste your personal time) with unnecessarily long outgoing messages,
charge you hidden exorbitant roaming charges,
force you to choose a "plan" in hopes that you will err in their favor, rather than switch plans automatically on a monthly basis
give you insufficient notification when your "special promo plan" expires, causing you to rack up $350 in a month, where you used to pay $80 for the same volume of calls,
etc etc etc
I find ATT to be one of the most vile corporations in terms of customer service, always looking for a way to cheat, swindle, and bamboozle their users.
Isn't that what the mouse/touchpad/keyboard shortcuts are for? Keeping your hands on the controls seems better than having them on the display. Kind of like driving by touching your windshield.
It's ok, because in their minds the sanctity of life ends after birth. Then it becomes a free for all, eveything else takes precedent, military, war, death penalty, profits, tax dollars, corporations etc.
I believe that Adam Curry, (former MTV video jockey) [who incidentally registered the MTV.com domain very early on] played a large part in early podcasting, even as far as coining or spreading the adoption of the term, and lending his hand at coding early pre-iTunes aggregators, until passing the ball to more competent coders, and also having a part in persuading Apple to adopt it into iTunes functionality.
How about no built-in handling for zip or iso files? And then when the OS asks if you would like it to search the net for handlers, it comes up empty!
I love when I open an attachment in outlook, and when i close the email, it asks if I would like to save the file's changes. Whether or not i say yes or no, it gives me the same ridiculous dialog without saving any changes.
I love being nagged by my OS every 5 minutes to reboot after an update. I love being pestered and annoyed by my "real" OS, while I am trying to get some work done, just because my OS thinks it's work is more important than mine.
At what point is it better to have some crime? How fucking safe do people need to be? Close cover before striking, and never leave the house without a full face helmet. Big brother all around.
Use a fuel tax.
There is no need for such an invasive "tax" system.
Do you know how easy it is to defeat GPS signals?
Too often you lose signal when you're driving in certain areas.
This pay per use is unpalatable. For example, even those who do not drive benefit from the road/highway system, by having their goods and services delivered via it.
Well hang on to that freedom dearly. I'm surprised they haven't outlawed it, or taxed it, or otherwise regulated it, other than having surveillance cameras on you while you cross.
I thought they eliminated all crime with all their surveillance cameras, and speed cameras etc.
Surely they must do more to fight crime.
Perhaps mandatory random strip searches, home inspections, unfettered police access to citizens residences and possessions for examination for criminal activity.
Or increase the penalties for all crimes to bankrupt jaywalkers, and incarcerate speeders for life.
This UK government is too lax. They need to begin to take charge and control and monitor the population better.
They should arrest/execute citizens before a crime occurs. That should be the goal.
Seriously, use it for telephone service when the wireless companies inevitably try to jack you, either with service cuts, signal loss, price gouging, sneaky tactics to overcharge you, etc.
...At least people will get where they're going faster.
Not everyone who speeds gets killed or kills someone immediately. I used to take my motorcycle over 100mph almost every time I took it out, and I rode all seasons for 20 years.
Yes, because I always see these wonderfully large SUV's filled to the brim with large families. They are also good for sports, and utility. I frequently see them on expeditions to the Yukon, taking excursions, utilizing the 4WD exploring the backcountry, maneuvering safely through snow, blazing trails, navigating down avalanches, through safaris, or on the tundra. None of which could be done in a car.

I believe it will still be the world's most annoying operating system.

Now when you say that your computer died, you may be speaking literally...
The primary goal of Microsoft is to make money from it's users. And they've been very successful at that.
That is not the primary goal of Linux.

For the sake of humanity, use the energies you would to flee, and instead direct them towards reforming your country.
Canon makes nice products. And you can run chdk hacker software on them.
As in; I was searching for 'microsoft sucks" and got "Binged"

Right, what they meant to say is it's less hideous than before.
There, I said it.
...At least people will get where they're going faster.

Never had a problem with accidents, just cops.

Linux called...and said thanks again Microsoft, for doing your best to get us more users.
Excellent, they finally patented the BSOD.
Justice is a commodity you must pay for. If you have enough money you can sometimes buy injustice. Witness OJ Simpson.
Who has time to scan the couple thousand pages in all of the books for all of the classes in which the typical college student is enrolled?
Exactly, instead; cut out the binding and use a sheet scanner.
