My take on twelve year olds aka 'assholes' as you call them, is that I can pretty much ignore them during a heated deathmatch game.
But their participation in team games is extremely lacking and very pitiful. It's like they don't really give a fuck about what the objectives are, and what needs to be done.
With CTF, I'd be yelling "asshole! you're going the wrong way!!". But with the more complex team games like RTCW and BF1492, they ARE COMPLETE MORONS!
They don't know the objectives. They don't know what they have to do. They always want rocket launchers. They always want to run for the plane. You ask them to play or do something, and they don't.
But there is a light. I find if you play online after the young ones have gone to sleep, you can find servers with good, mature players. Sure, only a few servers out of a hundred is like that.
Or you sell your soul and join a clan. Very fun, but very time consuming.
Yes, and I've been thinking about this too...we don't wan't applications to look so different!
Now, I haven't looked at the mozilla or evolution source, but does anyone think it's feasible to rip out the gtk gui and replace it with qt?
Of course this all depends on how tightly the app is bound to the frontend gui. Nonetheless, it is an interesting question. I mean, kernels are designed to be modular for different architectures, and therefore apps should be modular so we can have 'plug-in' interfaces.
A company has no reason to "honor" mistakes, that's why they print those little disclaimers about erronious listings.
Yes, but here in Canada a big department company took advantage of this. Through out a period of weeks, they were accused to purposely lowering the price on their goods to attract customers who were told at time of purchase, 'flier had a mistake'. Then later on they will bring out 'correction' notices.
I don't know if the accusation lead to charges or a lawsuit being laid, but it is a something big businesses can and will do from time to time.
Even if KDE or Gnome was 100% bug-free, there's still the issue of how the color palettes get handled when a video card only does 256 colors.
What card these days can _only_ do 256 colours? I mean waaayyback when I had a mighty fine 486DX50, I had a video card that was capable of 640x480x256. However it couldn't run at 256 colours -- only 16 'cause it didn't have enough video memory. doh!
So we still have cards like that? You can buy an ATI rage vid card/w 32mb memory for around 30 bucks. The only reason you can be running 256 colours TODAY is if you're VNC'ing or have dumb x-terminals where lower bpp means faster display refresh times.
Technically, isn't that a trojan? The recipient thinks they're using IE...and since it doesn't behave properly they might as well think they have a virus!
Each, I think it was called program or whatever (I only worked their for a few weeks, please forgive me) they call it lasts until the contacts are "exhausted." Exhausted doesn't mean everyone has been called, it means the sale rate drops below a certain percentage. When you call and say no, your name gets thrown at the end of the list. Right along side the people who had answering machines, the people who weren't home, and the people who said maybe later. You're going to be called until enough people stop saying "sure, I'll take one."
As a "used-to-be" telemarketer, I can answer this question more better: If a) the customer pisses me off or b) if their daughter acts rude/yells, "well, HE's not interested" -- I mark the call as "CUSTOMER NOT AT HOME". In the first case, I want to piss the customer off for pissing me off, and in the second case the daughter a) pissed me off and b) technically they are not the recepeint of my call so I just add customer back to the "Call again in 2 days list"
Hate me if you want, must this is a telemarker's opinion.
VMware under Windows, loads up several device drivers to bridge/route network traffic between the virtual machines and your local NICs.
And when I installed a demo VMware on my Linux box, it needed a kernel headers to build the vmware kernel modules(don't know what for). So, Vmware also needs modules/device drivers for operation.
I'm interested in this case...why will DOS lose data or connection to a samba server?
Is it because it uses older SMB protocol dialect? Or does it have something to do with DOS behaviour towards FAT? And how many people are actually using DOS?
How the hell can they predict what the universe is going to do in trillions of years, but I can't get an accurate weather forcast for the next 24 hours??
I know you're trying to be funny, but what you say is the truth. We can't predict earthquakes(i.e. happened in Japan, India, and Turkey) nor can we predict if this Winter it's going to snow a lot or instead will be very cold(i.e. here in Toronto, Canada we are facing the coldest winter in 9 years).
Point is, we didn't create such systems and therefore can't control such systems. In this point, lies great wisdom that the athiests won't even understand.
Besides, while the 'earth & solar infrastructure'(woooo sounds so hitech) will remain intact for who knows how long, I believe if we are let to continue in our state, we would kill our ownselves. War, environmental destruction(i.e. pollution), increasing seperation of rich/poor, etc. will lead to the downfall of humankind unless they have the willingness to change and cause betterment of society.
As a Muslim, we firmly believe and atest to the fact that God alone knows when this world/universe will perish. "GOD is the One who created the night, the day, the sun, and the moon. Each one is travelling in an orbit with its own motion" (Qur'an 21:33).
Many people think, "Why do those Muslims cut off hands if they steal?". It's more of a pratical deterrent, to stop people stealing from each other. And in serious cases, to stop murders and other crimes resulting from theft.
A while back here in Canada, we had an incident where one guy robbed a store with expensive goods, and left the scene immediately. Cops were chasing after him thru the roads and highway, and finally when a cop stopped the guy. The guy had no remorse, and pulled his gun out and shot the cop point blank in the face(as the guy was getting out of his car). The guy got back in his car, and proceeded with his getaway...even some bystanders got tried to follow him...but when they did the bad guy just tried shooting those cars. Also last time I checked, the cop who got shot in the face is recovering.
All attempted murders, violence and damage...due to what? Theft. Islamic Law immediately puts a severe disability on anyone commiting theft, and there is no point trying to discuss if this is "too severe", as one can just go to Saudi Arabia and see the implementation of this Law. You can practically keep your store open unattended(if you have a shop) and no one would steal.
The only one who suffers? The person who commited the theft. Fine by me, because that person has a brain and a capability to think before acting. Sure he might 'repent' from his mistakes, change, and never steal again -- but it doesn't change the fact that s/he stole in the first place. Afterall, what if robber, stole your pay check for feeding your family this week?
And, if anyone is really interested, I can give you more information about punishment of theft in Islamic Law, with all of its cases and conditions.
During a military op against Iraq a few years earlier, I saw on one of the news channel that one of those Stealth Fighters crashed.
US appeared very tight-lipped as to what caused the crash, and the media like-wise(they just reported the crash, and no details). My guess is that they didn't want ANYONE to pick up the parts and study them, as it will reveal "tech secrets".
How they recovered it, I dunno. I was just interested on how tight-lipped everyone seemed to be about the event.
You bring up a valid point, but remember this: if a company can only afford to hire a single person, then re-using existing free software components and having one guy maintain it is a lot cheaper than hiring a whole team. Cheaper costs == companies stays alive longer == profit == more jobs later on.
Bringing open source software to the countries levels the playing field so that the small fish can compete with the big fish.
Linux/UNIX might maybe good at multitasking floppy IO, but sure as hell is not good at chucking floppies in/out at high speed with all the mounts/umounts you have to do!
Ouch...EA is going to die....first Majestic and now Sims Online...I guess they got green beady eyes, "Imagine how wonderful if all our customers payed us $12.95 a MONTH + the game!"
Gnome PR Servent: "Boss boss! KDE released a new version...3.1!!! "
Gnome PR Boss: "Whaaat??? That can't be true. Gnome is first and will always be kbetter kthan kthose kbitches! Here, send a press release announcing our strategic allliance with Sun is complete and the world will be ushering a new desktop with Gnome 2.2"
Gnome PR Servert: "Ahh...you're jealous of KDE's spotlight..."
Well it's not only medical science, but computer science too.
DARPA, internet, network protocols, satellites, cell phones, Ada, Unix operating systems, software engineering were all driven mostly or partly because of the military.
If these people could expand on this concept and come up with a Morrowind model that spans across a few continents instead of one, and with maybe 3-5 main quests that are dynamically generated then it would take months to finish it.
Actually a lot of 3D games are like that. When games were 2D, I was blown away by the depth, huge world landscapes, etc. I.e. Zelda2 for NES. However when you transition to 3D, everything is different: you gotta watch your polygon counts, how "far" you can see, how many enemies/items you can draw, and you gotta slap a texture on everything.
Simply put, 3D games require a lot more in resources and time than 2d games. Plus, it's very easy to make 3D ugly with boxy models and boring, repetitive textures with mundane lighting.
When 3D first started to ripple in, I was put into much dismay about RPGs and what not...the world in most games were so small. N64 Zelda was on an Island, while Final Fantasy 1(2?) for Nintendo spanned like 5 different continents; you can travel by boat, airship; each zone had its own huge caves, castles, palaces, etc.
However now with more memory and better hardware, we're getting into the huge world style again in 3D. Grand Theft Auto showed it is possible, and other games will hopefuly be inspired by its hugeness.
12 monkeys...a very deep and wonderful movie. No other movie has left me in suspense at the end of the movie.

If you're using Vim or gvim do a 'ctrl-n or ctrl-p'...that will give u the best autocompletion. Though it's not smart enough for structures.
However, you can build a tag file and hit 'ctrl-]' on the structure for lookup or the command 'ta your_structure_to_look_up'.
BTW, I hate windows fucking help pages. You gotta click, click, click, scroll scroll scroll, just to find an entry you need.
Under linux, just do a 'man whatever' will give me most of the info I need instantly.
Technically, isn't that a trojan? The recipient thinks they're using IE...and since it doesn't behave properly they might as well think they have a virus!
Well, you can't create a subscription since they're overhauling the system. Won't be availabe 'til spring they say.
Why does everyone think GTA3/VC games are violent? Has anyone played SOF/SOF2 on the PC? Now THAT is violent.
I have so much pleasure unloading my shutgun and blowing a body to a bunch of gibs. Death. Kill. Very satisfying in this game.
Ha ha you suckers. I hate telemarketers as much as you do, but when you're looking for a job, telemarketing is one of the easier summer jobs to get.
What I described is 'being in the shoes of a telemarketer'...i.e. if anyone of u were in this crappy job you would act even more rude than me.
And yes, I believe telemarketing should be banned, especially the ones which take advantage of people in their 60s.
Why do they keep calling me? I already said no!

Well Germany uses soldiers with 'modified blood' that's green. This is why all german computer games with blood in 'em are green googly coloured.
Call me stupid, but why does slashcode put spaces in long directory or hyperlinks?
