From the site:
"DANGER WILL ROBINSON!
If used on users that have EFS encrypted files, and the system is XP or later service packs on win2k, all encrypted files for that user will be UNREADABLE! and cannot be recovered unless you remember the old password again"
So basically this wont work on computers that are up to date software wise.
Yes, Apple's version will feature the WarCraft 3 channel... and that puzzle channel with the Apple logo... I've watched it many times already, but it's still fun.
I'd say Linux is more stable for people who do less than similar people who use a flavour of Windows. I've had this same install of XP since it came out. I remember stuff getting screwed up in RedHat and having to reinstall because it would no longer boot.
Converting from mp3 to ogg or vice versa means you lose a lot of range. Oggs are good for mid range frequencies, VQF mp3s are good for high and low range frequencies. At 196, it's nearly impossible to see any difference between the graphs for an ogg or an mp3, except that the mp3 will generally have better low frequency waves. MP3 is also still a lot easier on the cpu. I have a P3-1gHz and Ogg will jump my cpu up to 17% from 2% at times. MP3 hovers in the 8% range. When playing a game alongside this, it's a pretty big impact.
So in other words you ran two programs on the same machine, the second one having already had the network path laid out for it to reach the page, and you are surprised that it got the information faster... Fascinating.
Um, writing Linux/OSX/anything virii are pretty easy when you consider people will run anything if they are guilable enough. Just write some program that searches around for files and does stuff like erase them.
Also, your comments about trusted computing seem to be quite backwards. If MS was the only one who could say what code was safe to run, then virii would obviously be considered not safe.
Here's a real question for you. If a OSX computer gets infected with a virus that affects the bios, what do you do?
Opera crashes on a good number of java related pages, and on a small number of pages that access plugins like shockwave. I used version 7.11 with the java package.
As for your comments about IE, perhaps you are 5 years behind in clicking the "run internet explorer in a separate process" option. I've not had IE crash my system for years upon years. Not that Opera did either, but the java plugin has.
Everyone complains that all the Outlook users are spreading virii, but that's not the only problem. A good number of virii are spread by people who download some random file off the internet and run it. This kind of attack is unbiased as to what browser you use.
Just start brute forcing it! By the time it finishes we'll be able to build the craft.

You can remote manage Win2K boxen as well.

CVS2 is online, too. It's alright most of the time. My guess is that people with "good" broadband connections wont have any trouble.

And since most people use IE, they can view mhtml which stores the images in the html code and is often smaller than PDF. KTHX you have been informed.
Basically sums it up. I'm sure they're laughing it all the way to the bank thanks to /. posting a link to them giving them more ad revenue.
Possibly with a router. Router's are fast.
According to the article, Apple is dropping the API that Premiere was writtent in. In other words, Apple told them to get lost first.

I used Opera and was AMAZED at how much more often it locked or crashed. Sometimes it just wouldn't display a page. It was annoying.

You got Mozilla to load less information faster than IE loading more information. Good job! *snicker*
Not to mention viewing pages like they were on a C64...... I was gonna say what you said, but you beat me to it.
The Typing Of The Dead, Worms Armageddon, Diablo 2.... These are not Linux native, but you might be able to get them to work on an emulator.
It was on a floating point multiply, iirc. You had to look at the asm output in order to catch it.
The GCC I saw VC6 tested against had trouble producing fast output. It would randomly put in loops and perform data fetches multiple times.
At the time that VC6 was out, GCC was still slow at compiling comparatively.
VC7 was a little slower, but VC7.1 is much faster.
BLEH, I saw this like last year or smth. Maybe a different setup, but definetly the same idea.
Which is why Apple was allowed to make websites take down Windows Themes that had the look & feel of Aqua.... Please try again.
