/me thinks that PJ at groklaw could do it, perhaps on a part-time/consulting basis i.e. attatch a few comments on whatever the law says to the end of TFA
averaging 3 yrs per job myself. If you get along OK with the hiring man or general manager (in my case) during the interview and then follow through with good performance, the contents of your resume will become less relevant.
That's news to me, but then I have no Deb experience whatsoever. Thanks, I might need to know that someday. As it is, the new-style rpmbuild has similar capabilities, though I like using checkinstall to do it all with one command instead. It's just a convenience issue for me.
Umm, my current Fedora install uses ACL's and IIRC they had them in RH9 too. See man (5) acl, setfacl, and getfacl. Also note that both distros install libxattr and libacl.
It's got to be interesting to run over the whole thing with something like valgrind. Not that I'm going to try, nor do I want a copy of their code anywhere near me.
"That's an initial difference of $12.5 million, or $892 per system. They say that they'll make it up in the long run, but they must really mean long term."
Probably true; long-term for me is anything greater than 5 years, but that's just my opinion.
"This whole project smells to me like the council had a beef with Microsoft..."
They probably do, and I don't blame them. It's one thing to have vendor lock-in, and another thing to have vendor lock-in with a foreign-owned company.
I'd be very interested in seeing the results of their studies into TCO and migration, published openly after they get done. I think the OS community can use that kind of real-world feedback, and I'm *sure* that other (closed-source) vendors *will* use it. You know, so they can "Get the Facts".
Woops, sorry about that. I meant "informative" and fumbled a click... there goes the mod points. Anyway, I added "operator" to my bookmarks, and will pass it along to a few admins.
...why some of my cow-orkers are still alive. The thick skull is necessary to survive enraged beatings by the more clueful. It's also harder for small lizards to fuck a thicker gourd.
er, since when was linux or UNIX concerned with markets or big boys? Hey, it's not my problem if you bought too much hype during the dot-com or something. FWIW, this was all around *long* before all that. And since when is *nix associated with bigotry?
Ummm, who's "Prada"? What cards? I keep my (US) driver's license and ATM card on me, nothing else. If somebody wants more than that, they can show it up front, and show why. Please somebody tell me that *cash* isn't good enough..
Just IMHO you should post that on groklaw, where it may do some good.
Campaign contributions and old-school business-think anyone? FSVO "right thing", of course.
Naahh...
tail -f /var/log/messages
Not all that hard to do... send them a copy of the Lion worm or Ramen. Or just a mail bomb with 4 gigs of /dev/zero compressed into a .zip.
... of code morphing under Linux, using assembly can be found here. The imagination runs wild...

Now I can collect 36 pieces and send then in SASE with $4.95 for my very own decoder ring!

They're just having all *kinds* of problems nowdays, huh

I've used checkinstall with great results for building RPM's from sources. It can do DEB's too, from what I understand.

He also forgot the fact that we *must* be in Soviet Russia, because now the modules are porting us
What if I'm not running *any* of the above?

... this could fill in a bit of market gap left by the Cobalt line, maybe? I know I'm interested in this anyway.
A pun. Headaches were supposedly caused by demons a couple thousand years ago.

No, the Daemons need an escape...
