    Well, what do all the sci-fi writers who hang around NASA do? (Pournelle, etc) Surely they aren't there to get autographs? Or to sign them?

    NASA has regular brainstorming sessions with authors in many fields and spends a lot of cash in (often criticised) research into 'alternative technologies' -Sci-Fi propulsion etc.

    'In the USA, you believe what you want'- facts get in the way? Just carry on regardless.

    LEDs don't burn out; yet VFDs with hot cathodes have,in effect, tiny incandescent lamps within, just like vacuum tubes and will burn out in time. Cold cathode types are safe from this tho'.

    Did he invent the American style round 'tube' tv screen? That went out everywhere else in the 50s, so that ain't what 'the masses' used, except in the USA, so he loses that claim....to whoever invented the rectangular screen..the true 'inventor of TV'...er..??!!!???
