    Makes lots of seemingly 'implausible' films about unauthorised nuke launches and hacking, a lot less implausible.

    When I want to launch a nuke, I just type "hack password" in the swirling 3D box that appears on my screen.

    Finally, every Linux user that has compiled a kernel knows that it can really tax a system. Gentoo users also know how strenuous a XFree86 or KDE/Gnome compile can be.

    It shouldn't be, unless you have a low memory system and everything (including your swap) is on an older IDE disk that doesn't seek quickly. I often leave large builds running in the background on Windows, BSD and Linux systems with no noticeable impact on system responsiveness.

    That's the "old days?" I've got a 1x CD burner in my closet. We're talking 1x read and 1x write with a sweet proprietary controller. 150 KB/s is all you really need anyway.

    ...do these security robots run? I just know I'm going to get modded Troll for this, but with all due respect, I wouldn't feel terribily comfortable with a company whose security bots run OS/2. I'll feel especially freaked out when the security bots advance to the point where they are actually armed. Can you imagine OS/2's poor drivers acting up on one of these things, and causing a gun to fire? Gives me the shivers. And I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it happens... (shit, if banks can base entire ATM networks around OS/2...)

    I did this once and it works great as long as you don't mind a huge cloud of noxious fumes emanating from your Jetta. It only cost me $10 too. YMMV.

    Not really. You can already get DLT drives that hold 320 GB and transfer data at 32 MBps. At only 50 GB, you would probably need to swap discs, which is a real pain.

    Actually, I can see an idea like that selling like hotcakes. With some good advertising, you could have a lot of people making amateur, grassroots Truman Show-esque reality TV for anyone on the Net.

    You'll need to buy at least two, so you can film yourself with the second camera while you edit the footage from the first one or change its batteries/flash card. You wouldn't want to miss any potentially riveting moments.

    A lot of politicians support gun control so they can say they care about reducing violent crime without having to tackle real, controversial issues (like poverty). This program is simply another way for the Bush administration to say they're doing something about terrorism, even if its usefulness is questionable.

    english, which is a normand anglo-saxon tongue, originated either from Saxony (in Germany) or Normandy (in France) and therefore is itself an accented version of these languages.
