    The wright brothers were the first to fly under power, not the first to fly. They also went a few hundred feet, didn't get very high, it was useless at transporting people besides the pilot, and were not going to be making much profit off the thing they invented (except maybe through publicity). The modern aviation industry would not be here if it were not for the huge investments governments made in aviation in WW1.

    Here in london they take plastic, some even have the NFC enabled card readers, so for cab rides under £20 it can be pretty damn convenient.

    Pity only a small fraction of pedophiles are out looking on the internet. That and the fact that if the penalties are higher, people will do more to hide their crimes, like instead of threatening their victims, they'll lock them up in a basement, or fit them with some cement shoes for a quick dip in the local river.

    I'd say a good number of the Islamic, Hindu and Sihk honor killings are due to the practitioners living in hugely patriarchal countries, the religion came second.. it would be like looking at the southern US and saying that all Christians are obviously end of times gun nuts.

    They aren't doing it. There have been studies, basically they found that the all-star traders in most investment banks were little better than coin flips when averaged over long periods, it's just that when they guessed right, things went well, and for everyone doing badly, there was someone hitting the right buttons. That and Libor and inter bank exchange rates.
