I saw that Amazon had posted these G5 updates on their website for pre-order at least as early as yesterday like they do for albums that haven't hit the shelves yet. Not sure when Apple officially announced the news but I didn't see anything on their site at the time.
"About 80 percent of Microsoft employees who have a portable music player have an iPod," said one source, a high-level manager who asked to remain anonymous.
The source estimated 80 percent of Microsoft employees have a music player -- that translates to 16,000 iPod users among the 25,000 who work at or near Microsoft's corporate campus."
Uh, I think that's 80% of whatever % of the 25,000 have music players.
One of the studies mentioned in the book was done by Harvard. They created an online version of these tests that show whether or not you subconsciously associate certain things together. You can take the tests yourself and find out things you may not even be aware of.
The tests are all based on the same idea but are targeted for different prejudices. The black/white test is interesting because many Americans (and less so, other Westerners) will exhibit some form of bias against African-Americans on it. The test said that Malcolm Gladwell, the author of the book, also shows this bias even though his mother is black.
I don't know how accurate these things can be, but it's kind of disturbing to take these and realize how your mind may subconsciously influence your decisions/interactions with other people in such a way.
Should be interesting to keep an eye on it as the years roll by as the disk rotates and our optical powers keep growing.
When was the last time a BILLION years rolled by?
The jacket is designed for women only. Its small size and narrow armholes are intended to prevent men from using it as an offensive weapon.
It also prevents men from using it in defense.
No it just prevents the buff dudes you don't want to mug from using it. It's still fits the scrawny, woman-sized guys.
...I don't WANT to remember that crazy bitch I went out with 2 years ago?!?

I'm still sort of annoyed, philosophically, at not being able to get a full-bandwidth.WAV file.
I think that another reason why Apple doesn't offer this is to have a barrier (albeit a minor one) against releasing these pristine tracks into the wild via peer-to-peer apps such as Kazaa after encoding them into MP3. If you go through the route you describe the you are making a lossy copy of a lossy copy. Remember that Jobs convinced many artists who were previously against digital distribution of music (Eminem for example, I hear Metallica is on the way) to agree to the Apple Music Store concept. In order for him to do that he would have had to give some sort of assurances that it wouldn't lead to even more pirating of their music.
Not to mention that most people don't have the bandwidth to make downloading WAV files practical.
I don't see what the big deal is about this bag, especially since it isn't even for snowboarding. There's nothing it offers that the remote that comes with the iPod couldn't provide. This bag made by Osiris is pretty cool and runs $109 and at least comes with speakers built into it.
That reminds me of the joke about the guy with adenoid hypertrophy, he walks into a bar and the barman says, "why the long face?"
You mean everything that you read on the internet isn't necessarily true? Shocking.
if i recognized him on the street, i'd piss in his eye.
I heard that's the most common way to catch HIV.
the person who wrote the lightsaber slide never read this.
(This crowd, by the way, being the ones who provide recommendations to the people who sign the checks to buy IT equipment for corporations worldwide.)
Your company's IT dept. buys you all iPods?!? Who do I have to give my resume to?

You mean the media can be bought?!? I feel like I'm taking CRAZY PILLS!!

...the more they stay the same.
High school students are interested in the same thing I was interested in when I was their age: naked chicks.

...if the gov't banned all that penis enlarger spam it keeps getting to make it feel inadequate.
Drink lots of water, fidget constantly and flex your penis 20 times each time you piss.
Dammit! The RIAA strikes again!
Study finds older topics replaced by younger topics...more to come.
Girlfriend: "What are these pictures I found on your computer?!?"
You: "I swear they're not mine! I was just trying to support Kazaa's new P2P business model! Honest!"
but I'll always be able to out-drink any machine!

Yeah, I believe they pocket (MSRP - Cost) on every new iMac, iBook, PowerMac, PowerBook and iPod they'll sell.

I first played with the prototypes for these weapons years ago.
I hear the Nebuchadnezzar is hiring.
