Like all media, this is just blown up. It's a mere suggestion by a comitee, scientists and politicians are outraged by the whole idea, it's very unlikely that this will ever be put into practice.
Personaly i don't like emphasising difference between humans and animals.. we are both part of the same evolution. We are carbon based life forms, some breathe through gills, some lungs. The only difference is that we have built so much and understand things around us (who says animals don't:D ).
But we're basicly the same when it comes to Primal needs, feeding, mating, killing rivals etc..
Funny how they're always dressed up nicely, no sterile protecting gear.. and when they find a tiny peice og hair, its always from the murderer/victim/a witness...
I watched forensic detectives on discovery channel for a long time before csi came on tv here (to norway), so when i first saw it at one of my mates houses, they got pissed off because i sat there telling them all the wrong things they did.
"Linux is a leprosy; and is having a deleterious effect on the U.S. IT industry because it is steadily depreciating the value of the software industry sector."
In other words: "WEE WANT OUR MONEY, and linux is destroying our evil capitalistic way of living!"
You mentioned your department gets hundreds of requests a week. At the gathering (huge LAN party
held in Hamar, Norway, lasts 4-5 days?) gathering.org, they use a php/mysql (as far as i know) system to manage all the requests. And we are talking of a LAN with 4000-5000 attendants needing help for all kinds of stuff..
The crew at the gathering are splitted into:
Tech, tech linux, electricity, vision, scene, logistics, medic, security, PR and Admin (there may have been additions to this since i worked there).. and each crew can assign reported tasks to different parts of the whole crew... The system takes arguments as: seat, row, description, assign to what crew and the status of each case can be: solved, pending, closed or open. Crewleaders can assign different tasks to different people in their crew..
I'm not shure if this is what you're looking for, but it works like a charm at TG
I'm a sega fan, i love them (and sonic of course), i remember the day i got my first ever console, the sega master system..
I bought my DC as soon as it was released in europe.. But ofcourse all my mates said it was crap (without ever trying it), and bought their PS2's, Gamecube's and Xbox's... Most people here in Norway have never even heard of the DC, but some altso call me lucky for owning one:)
So it warms me that people are still working with the DC.. I do some OpenGL programming myself, so i might try making something myself for the DC.
GO SEGAAA!!!
(By the way, anybody wanna sell me an ethernet adapter for the DC? must work with the PAL DC)
They _try_ to look good? damn, do you wear ugly-o-matic glasses?! The newest versions of KDE look bloody marvelous, but still i stick with e16.. the reason? the lovely themes (personally i use the mac os Aqua theme), and.. my home pc is a 400mhz which i run as a workstation and server.. so i can't spend CPU power on KDE or Gnome...
If you wanted security, you are not going to only use the security provided by the OS alone. If you do...then it's your own fault.
what about unix/gnu linux? kickass security as long as you have the brains to configure it:)
I agree.. I mean, how would they ever enforce this?
Another thing.. When it comes to patented code, how do we know that ex. Microsoft hasn't used patented code? I know of 'roumors' concerning some
code in the win32 platform, that say the code in question might be ripped off from some other system/os/whatever...
For titles like lord of the ring, i'd rather wait until they hit the big screen. for a couple of reasons:
1. The sound, the picture quality
2. By paying for the ticket, you support movie production.
I clicked through the link and i almost laughed my ass off when i read the headline: "Arctic town to get offbeat tidal energy"
when did oslo become an arctic town?
i laughed even more when the article stated: "..the most northerly town in the world..."
I live 5 hours by car north of oslo.. (the summers aren't that bad.. we get 25-30 C temperatures).
The guy who wrote that article hasn't payed alot attention in geography class....

My knowledge about patents is scarce, i merely know what they are..
Is this like an international patent? or would it
only apply to U.S. citizens?
