mine is a sad story indeed. I've been neautral until the parent post ( 21 posts so far ).
and now - oh dear... my karma went "bad" on me.
Have you no respect to old/. traditions? when a./er sees an empty news he MUST post a "first post"... true enough, the "first post" was what originally introduced the karma regime... but hey, if this was the spark that lit the darkness, who are we to determine it false ?
said my peace. if this post will get offtopic I'll stop posting altogether. bye bye for now.
This been like the other day here man.
I suggest you do a "search" on the site (after all, you have the sources) and check if things like that already been published. this is happening all the time and is very weird.
Well,
This is great news to the chinese. Now they have this firewall which always seems to be the same IP...
so what do we got ? 4 billion people pirating the movie with one source IP:)
this is cool
It's called "encryption", and I believe it would avoid this.
no it can't. you can't envrypt the actual port you are using, and if you will try encrypting the http headers a basic firewall can detect it and throw your packets...
p2p isn't possible if the guys who rule the Great Firewall know what they are doing (which brings on an interesting question... who rules the rulers? somewhere in China are people who are VERY CLOSE to the power that be... I wonder where they surf...)
You probably ask "why isn't it possible" and the answer is pretty simple: by working over TCP/IP you have to send all of the data in some recognizble protocol ( a format in which both the client and the server knows how to read and what to read ) and therefor all you have to do is block the packets who looks like they belong the p2p mechanism (and any other packets you don't like).
... if we could take this technology and implement it in some babel-fish-like translator that can interpret any known language to any other known language ? it would. but it won't
It's a game folks. and like a game its designed to create fun content ( or in the case of lionhead any content ) and nothing else
If it was some great new technology the hype was clear , but when some AI programmer (no matter how talented he is) is saying it - I beg to differ. the creatures will probably have the same language capabilities as an insect (read about AI and find out for yourselves... 2 billion neurons in a neural net is a fit a bit hard to get right.. if at all).
So... it would be great if such game existed but alas it will be the military research or (just maybe) the academic research which finally deliver something close to human thinking in AI.
Not lionhead, even if they would like us to think so. sorry.
As we are all geeks I beleive you all know what I am talking about.
MIT has done more for the internet (and in my view therefor to humanity) than many many others (comics industry included), so what if they got back some of their investment?
[flaimbait] Imagine a Beowulf cluster of people talking about Beowulf clusters
/. has this cult which evolved around it of people which promptly answer anything with the same lines. ( do you like you food? well, yes, *but* imagine a Beowulf cluster of that!)
[/flaimbait]
Here is a nisch no one seems to care about.. Douglas Adams' Starship Titanic can only run on win95 (win2k and XP just wan't cut it) - but no one delivered a patch, no one even cares that the game hang on the very beginning...
Wine ppl - get a copy and make the thing work!! please!!
I couldn't agree more...
It doesn't matter if there is nothing to be done or something to be done.
Programming is about doing the best you can in the time you have. And no riddles can prepare you for that.
I had riddles, more than my fair share. Some I solved, some I didn't. The main question is
Why the *hell* does anyone in their right mind think programming and silly riddles go hand in hand ?
I know of brilliant people (riddle wise) who couldn't code "hello world" even if their life depended on it...
So, you say to yourself, ok, I'll do your riddles, test me, then you get kicked out of some job interview because you couldn't cut the cake right... right... and being a chef is the first thing a good programmer needs, eh...
I think riddling is stupid. Sorry, but that's the way it is. it doesn't measure anything but the interviewer weakness of asking really important stuff like "we are on the eve of a deadline, you have tickets for a show - will you stay and help or go watch the show?"
Me.
You can enhance the expirience by using digital camera and docking them on cradles so any picture people will take will immidiatly be stored.

what ban , who where?
.. this means the lao's hackers are not into pizza while coding...

This might sound foolish, but if:
:
Water + Salt + Energy = Clean
can we also say that
Clean - Water - Salt = Energy
Any math+chemist persons(I am not either) care to comment ?

OK.
So I downloaded the thing. opened a Composer window, got the HTML out of it and pasted it here...
I hope you like it...
There is that ancient mystery puzzling the science world many things.
What happened to neathadrals? Somehow we Humans managed to overthrow those big creatures who ruled the mammals world and became their successors.
Could that be the explanation?
I have no idea of human history but just imagine what speech could have done to our ancestors...
The question now is who made that mutation happen? could that be the core reactor of the space ship that came from the stars?
nope.. it probably been the experiments...

this is probably a conspiracy
Try www.gltron.org for a great , playable game and the inform (or TADS) text adventure engines. these are great too.

quantom state particle don't matter also.. think about it...
You just have to wonder how is it that a game called "rules for medieval miniatures" had such success...
ehhm..

It is *mostly* harmless you know...
I wonder what disney will do to promote "The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy".
Destroy earth with big yellow space ships , perhaps ?
