Show me one person who has a usefull use for spreadsheets...
I wrote a spreadsheet a few weeks ago that calculated the remaining creep life of steel pipework. I have also written one that calculates fatigue.
For my own personal use I have one that calculates the correct aspect ratios and borders for my Avisynth scripts when converting AVIs to VCD or SVCD...
Have you ever tried to write an equation in PowerPoint?
I have. It's one of my jobs because the older guys struggle with it.
1. Insert > Object... from the Menu Bar
2. Click 'Microsoft Equation 3.0' on the list then click the OK button.
Failing that, find the Equation Editor here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Equation\EQNEDT32.EXE. Of course it can be used in many more applications other than Powerpoint.
It's a bit time consuming for complex equations but they look very nice.
I voted for the first time 4 years ago at the age of 24. It was something I though I should do.
I received my polling card through the post about 10 days ago. This is nothing new. It looks like a large payslip with perforations down three sides. Inside is my two part ballot code and instructions on how to vote.
I have 5 choices:
1. Via the internet at http://www.swindonelection.net/. This is going to be the easiest way of voting for me. 2. By telephone. Free number too. 3. Through my set-top cable tv box 4. i-kiosks, of which there are 8 in the town center. 5. At the local community center where I voted last time. The weather was very nice that evening.
Our local council has really made an effort with this election. Maybe that explains where the 15% tax increase is going...
You should read the site for a little longer. The 'plug-in' you need is called sig2dat.
And I say it's bollox that Kazza has the most content. They may have a few million more users than the other networks but the quality of files does not compare to other P2P clients that are higher up the P2P distribute ladder. Kazza is all about imcomplete files, bad naming conventions, deliberate poisoning by corporate monkeys, and Britney Spears.
Give eMule a try if you are fed up with Kazza's many downsides.
We've just gone from PII 333s running NT to P4 1.8s running XP. Most of my applications run slower now. Paint Shop Pro is now a joke, IE takes even longer to open, Word crashes more often, windows don't redraw themselves properly...
I am just one of the end users so yes, I probably have the shittest administrator EVER too, or XP is bloated to the max..?
I happen to like Windows and happily run 98 24/7 at home.
You honestly think you get a constant 50hz at the moment? As I've said on here before; The turbines don't spin at exactly 3000rpm all the time. I've seen them with my own eyes.

Why do we put so much pressure on our children to perform? Don't they have a rough enough ride as it is?
As a child I was always told that life isn't fair and that your schooling days will be the best days in your life. This used to fill me with horror because that meant that life was only ever going to get worse.
I didn't do homework. I firmly believed, and still do, that kids do enough work during the day between 9am and 4pm. They do not need the extra pressure and extra work in the evenings. I always asked the question at school; "Why do we have to do homework?" The answer was always something along the lines of "To prepare you for the future. You may have to work longer hours than this..." To which I always told the teacher that I wouldn't take a job the required me to work more than 8 hours a day... I haven't worked long hours without extra pay in the last 12 years.
The school should give this kid a break. I'm sure he has enough worries without knowing that Mum and Dad are checking up on him everyday. Sat in class wondering if Mum and Dad are surfing his grades from their place of work is not a good feeling to have.
My advice to you young Ishkibble is to rebel if you haven't started to already. You only get one childhood so make sure you enjoy it. Grades will not bring lifelong happiness.
However -- thanks to big high resolution screens and better development tools I find that I seldom need to print program a listing and virtually all of my correspondence is done by email -- without a drop of ink being used.
This means that I might not fire up my inkjet printer for weeks or even months at a time.
...
Anyone got any ideas.[?]
I have an old printer that I never use anymore for similar reasons to you. It is sat on the floor, not plugged in and not installed. Since I work for a company who have expensive laser printers, I tend to email anything that I need printing to work.
There are also reprographics shops in my local town that are happy the print anything that I feel is not suitable to send to work - this is probably an option for most people. I maybe use them twice a year so owning and running a printer of my own is not practical.
Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!
Cool

I've helped, on and off, to run a small gaming league of 1000 players for the last 2 years (CL2K - Google it). We have never offered prizes, it has never been too serious, we don't keep a proper record of who wins each season - it's just a place to hangout at the end of the day.
So why do we have to ban cheats every other week? Why do people take the time and effort to create multiple accounts just to report false wins?
We already have enough arguments with people playing Double or Nothing games, gambling on games is the quickest way to attract shite players who feel the need to cheat. It's also the quickest way to stop parents buying games for their children - do we want that?

They aren't just use for creating long lists.
RTFA - Oooo first time I've said that.
"Magnetic strips must be placed at doorways and near stairs to act as invisible walls and stop it plunging to its doom down a flight of steps."
It doesn't do stairs.
"...returns to its recharging station when it has finished cleaning a floor..."
Yes it's a good little cleaner.
A black man walks into a pub with a parrot on his shoulder. The barman says "Where did you get that?" and the parrot replies "Africa".
Is that racist or funny?
My friend next to me laughed...

I loved Dutch money when I went to Amsterdam. It was too funky to spend... but I did - all of it :)
UK money is boring. I'm a bit fed up of seeing the Queen's face everyday - if she were to smile every once in a while then I might feel different.
I've always wanted to try using a Coke can to smash someone's head in.
Would the can or the head split first?
Seriously, you shouldn't have to worry about this. I don't anymore.
Check out http://www.spamgourmet.com/ and create an account. You never have to visit the site again afterwards.
Make up a new email address each time you need a quick account for something like FileShack. I used this email address for my new account:
fileshack.1.inda@spamgourmet.com
'fileshack' is for my reference
'1' says that the address is only valid 1 time
'inda' is my account name
They can havest that address because it no longer works. Good, yeah?
Just make the names up.
I'm sure Micheal Jordan is in there somewhere.
The same reason all the other scary monsters are carved onto the outside of churches... To scare away all the other 'real' demons and bad spirits.
Maybe if the church modernized a bit more often they would be a bit more popular.
I'm sure it's still a beautiful place.
It's only 15:00 in the UK... How far away do you think Europe is?

With the integration of Overnet [overnet.com] support into EMule it now has the best of both worlds, ...
You sure about that? There is no mention of Overnet in the eMule changelog. You sure you aren't thinking of the eDonkey Hybrid?
