the major component that is lacking is a battery with a decent size/performance. just doesn't exist. if a battery in the AA form-factor could power a modern laptop for 6 hours it would open up the door for all kinds of really cool miniaturized hardware.
to keep things in perspective i saw a documentary about the military working on equipping soldiers with "onboard" computing for realtime use in the field and the prototypes are still 50 lbs.
flashblock replaces all flash with an (F) icon, which can be clicked, enabling the flash to play. 99% of the time i don't want flash, but in the case of strongbad, of course, i click:)
i used to be big into php4, i used it as my primary programming language for over 4 years. i don't like where zend is taking the language and have never used nor am i interested in 5. instead of making the language better they're just adding more junk onto it.
yes, and task scheduling used to be done manually, but now the kernel does a much better job than any human ever could. "it's supposed to suck" is not a good argument.
a decent old pair of headphones and shoutcast. no noise cancellation. no blinking lights. no frequency-hopping reverse polarization. no iPod. the music is non-GPL and non-BSD compliant. the headphones were not Free. they don't even run linux.
this is a bad idea. if it's too hard to get off your sofa once every four years to participate in the future direction of the country in which you live, then don't. if people don't find it worthwhile they don't have to do it, that's their choice.
They're replacing "My" with "Our"
no it's not, try running it. you cannot assign to a constant. i think you mean while(1)
Usebuntu!
you're right, the developers should slow down to a rate that's comfortable for you... when would you like v5?

yes, i'm sure Blizzard is doing this purely out of love. if only more companies ran on pure love.

please explain this new math, it is intriguing
marijuana. great for smoke breaks.
incidentally, i for one am tired of games involving overweight italian plumbers.
that is until we hit an ice age and the field of meteorolgy becomes much less interesting

i loved that ad.
best. idea. ever. i've been meaning to get a 1U machine and convert it to look like a pizzabox anyways... now i've got the lappy covered.

opensource.org/licenses/ (thought the new GPL doesn't seem to be up there yet). personally i like The MIT License. the shorter the better ;)
wow, that proves that linux is 3.203007518796992481203007518797 times better than windows. finally, this will silence those capitalists in Redmond!
just like sex.
well if there were this story likely wouldn't have been published on the /. homepage. i hate bush, but i hate bias as news more.

i was hoping more for a laptop version of the mac Cube
your off-the-cuff review was better than the "real thing"
