I guess since a lot on people have theri computers in the same state as when they got it, they don't need much extra room. But 3gigs is a rediculously small size for most other people.
This seem to be a big problem for a lot of open source games. Using the Warcraft II data files, Freecraft is a very good game, but when you use it's own art, it looks pretty bad. It is getting better, and pretty soon should it should have a complete set of artwork to make the game look okay.

The whole DeCSS thing was a big publcity stunt\scare tactic to try to frighten people into not developing thisngs like it. It just didn't work.

One of the first computer games that I ever played was the Out of This World that came with my old Macintosh Performa 410.
