Well if they are independent then they CAN make their own value judgements, but until they are the head of their own household, paying their own bills, and feeding their own mouths, guess who get's to call the shots? That's right the provider -- the head of the house hold. Instead of whining and throwing a fit about not getting what you want go out and *earn* freedom; move out of mommy and daddy's basement.
This is part of the problem. The government prevents the building hospitals, and closely watches how many hospital beds are located in an area. Without the ability to build there isn't any choice thus no market pressure. This is one regulation that needs to go out the window. Let entrepreneurs build.
And in a 120 years even if there was technology to revive the person why would they? What makes anyone that special? Especially after everyone who knew you was dead? There's very few people as a society that we'd even consider reviving anyway. Just get over it, we all die, and always will.
There are other viable candidates, if you reject the notion that you have to vote democrate or republican. There is McMullin, Johnson, and Castle running as well. It only "sucks" if your dim witted enough to play the "official" game.
Because the US constitution (1st amendment) applies to the *federal* government, not your state or your city government. Your state has it's own constitution (you should read it), and your city has it's own laws as well.
So if a planet in the Goldilocks zone is usually destined to freezing or burning up it seems to suggest a path to terraform Venus. We just need to export an organism that can live there and absorb the CO2 and survive the acidic environment. Some set of microbe that already lives on earth perhaps would fit the bill. Something that could float around in the atmosphere where it isn't quite so hot.
Then you wouldn't need to send the soldier to the battlefield at all, just a robot with some sort of encrypted and authenticated wireless interface between the brain and the robot.
" The robot, a snake-like endoscope that can be directed into any shape through the relative orientations of its linkages, requires only one incision" Sounds like the monologue from a super villain just before inserting a device of torture into the hero.
Actually it could, because there are only a small minority of people that are politically active. What you need to do is start early in the process of candidate selection where fewer people participate. You could effect both major parties and make sure that the candidates that end up on the final ballet from both parties are from your organization. Something like this happened locally here. The police in the area hated the elected sheriff who had been in office for years and years. At the county party convention I'd say about 1/5 of the 400 people there were police officers who all very vocal about their support for the new guy who they picked themselves. The incumbent didn't get enough votes to even make it to the primary election, ensuring that he wasn't an option at the general election save by write-in.
The same also happened to Bob Bennett in Utah too. A small group organized and flooded the local precincts with their members. However, when Orrien Hatch came up for re-election he was wary and careful to flood the precincts with hundreds of people. Usually a precinct elections will only have 20-30 people show up, but that time there were over 150.
The lesson is that it can have an effect, but not only as a surprise tactic.
They might not be able to, but they are also a huge minority. Making fraud hard at the exclusion of 0.001% of the population is better than making voting fraud easy. You aren't going to have a perfect solution, so let's go for good enough.
Here's a scenario that hasn't been argued. What if an insurgent from some middle eastern country has worked their way into the Russian Army as a missile operator and purposely fired at the plane to bring it down with the hope of plunging Russia and the US into war with each other. The middle east has no love for either Russia or the US and if they were busy with each other perhaps the middle east would be left alone.
That is true. The mistrust I believe largely comes from two things. We've been abused to much to trust, and we as a people aren't trust-worthy ourselves.

"Who would like to hang around in a place where everyone seems to be negative, mean, and disapproving?" This seems to be the epitome of Facebook.
The DNC knows there was hacking because they've done it before and did it this election too. What a surprise.

The world is about to discover that man made laws cannot override nature.
Actually it's not. As the president does not have the authority to ratify a treaty for our country.

I don't see how this is a positive thing for society?
They want their drones struck by lightening?

Just propose to ban it.

When you convince the legislatures that those CARBs have gluten in them, of course.

It's like bowling shoes for the face.
Wasn't that the situation with the last 3 presidents? It's just more of the same.
Didn't apple announce new products today? Should be a lot of hipsters out there replacing their "old" apple products.

Reminds me of this comedy skit.

I dare someone to get all of the presidential candidates declared dead. I mean their souls are dead already so it'd only be fitting.
