Add iText to the mix. It is a Java library capable of doing almost anything. The only down side is it is slower than native C libraries out there. If speed is a real issue, you could compile your iText Java classes using GCJ and convert them into native code. I'm thinking doing so will seed up your application. I haven't tried converting it to native code, has anyone?
Nice solution but is it elegant? Is it efficient? I can tell you for experience that going through Postscript to get to PDF will sooner or later turn into a nightmare.
It is truly time to kill postscript and standardize on PDF (good luck to Microsoft with their InfoPath).
Well the news is out there now so why has their so why did their stock go up? I'd imagine as soon as the general news media jumps on this they are screwed. I say their stock drops to 30 within two weeks.
And thats not the half of it. Every semester they seem to come out with a new edition and stupid professors seem to put the new edition as a required text book. I wonder if the professors are in on it?
I remember once purchasing an astronomy book for $115 and the next semester a new edition came out with minor changes (the universal constant H changed, thats about it). I wanted to sell my book cause I was a starving marvin. The school bookstore wanted to buy the book back for $3 dollars. 3 lousy dollars. Unbelievable!!!
Every language should have Enums. Detracted Enum? You must be out of your mind. The fact that Java doesn't have Enums pisses me off. I have to do it in a roundabout which often sucks and takes more time. Not having Enums is a a weakness.
The W2 is for sales and upper management people. They are tools to impress and it takes money to impress. I'm sure couple of our sales guys are going to get one of these in a few months...lord knows we always the laptops they throw they no longer desire.
I choose: -OpenOffice PHBs don't know about it. They should and I guarantee you when people see it they'll be impressed. - Eclipse Showed this IDE to mid-level managers the other day as part of our processes for choosing an IDE for a new project we are starting. All they kept saying it can do all of this and its what? Free? Are you sure we don't have to pay for something? -Gimp We are already using this and if its good enough for the special effect guy in Hollywood by god its good enough for your average joe shmuck GUI developer.
"$50 million for SCO to go to court, $4.3B for IBM."
How did you come up with that conclusion? Like most big companies out there, IBM has its own Law Division. Sure they bring in hot shot lawyers as consultant once in a while but they'll never overpay for legal service. SCO is going to be the one that'll get taken to the bank by its lawyers.
my understanding is that SMTP never establishes a connection...it simply sends out the message and whoever that message belongs to grabs it. I'm I wrong?
If a connection is established then I can see why it is hard to spoof the IP.
Here is a question for those who are familiar with SMTP.....Can someone take the source code to an SMTP server like Java Mail Server and alter then send a message with spoofed an IP address in the header? Is this possible? What mechanism stops someone from doing this?
I use nothing but the best. I've been using them since grade school and they have never left me down. Why look at them purdy colors....Crayons for everyone.
Sun Microsystems is notorious for charging way too much for their products...so much so that some times their resellers and channel partners sell the same products for 200% less. They need to get their act together.
iPod is light? Try lugging that around in the gym. I like my iRiver even though it doesn't have as much space...it makes up for it with battery life though. 17 hours can't be beat!
1. I threw away by TV 18 months ago. 2. I started reading more. 3. I started going to the gym.
No one ever said reading alone would help you lose weight. I personally had more time to do other things and that is what it is all about. I can't read constantly (eye's get tired) so when I'm not reading or don't feel like it I go out for a walk or just go to the gym. This has worked wonders for me as I have lost close to 75lbs. It is all about will power.
The question isn't what but when. When will Microsoft money come into play. Sooner or later Microsoft will be knocking on Seagate's door with a fruit basked full of goodies.
This a good start but I'm afraid money talks and we all know Microsoft money talks the loudest of them all.
I don't think a spell checker would catch "add."
it's a nasty habit of mine... the additional 'd' always seems to slip.
Thanks for being anal though.

If Gimp is good enough for Hollywood special effects studios it is good enough 90% of the people out there. You over estimate the value of Photoshop.

IEEE 802.11 has taken over! It is everywhere now. even my microwave oven is IEEE 802.11 enabled.

You obviously don't own a brand new 2004 Nissan Maxima.
Hatter!
I didn't know we had a research department.
And how did they manage to get grants to do this kind of work? I want some of that money do my research on how toilet paper folds.
