Well I can accellerate pedaling _downhill_ up to about 50 KPH (31 MPH) using the hightest gear of my bike. Todays maximum was 67 KPH (41.6 MPH) but I am not able to pedal that fast (very steep descent). Here I would need a higher gear but then again I would not really want to pedal at that speed. I just latch to the bike and hope nothing breaks;-)
Higher gear won't really help. If I bike along an almost flat road I will have an average of about 27 KPH. Today I did a tour of 130 km in a quite hilly area and I had an average of about 25 KPH. I am nowhere near as good as these professional drivers but that is not because of the gears. I have 27 gears on my bike and I almost never have the need for an even higher gear. I can use the highest gear only downhill because I am too weak to use it otherwise. It's daily training (and blood transfusions, growth hormones and EPO;)) which makes them so much better than me.
I tried to print on inkjet iron-on sheets with my Minolta laser printer. The first sheet went through without problems because the printer was cold before. Unfortunately the second one completely glued the area around the fixer unit together (iron-on and a hot roller...). It took me some hours to clean the printer and it did not really work well afterwards (paper jams all the time). I had to send it to Minolta and had it repaired at almost the cost of a new printer. And all this because I wanted a nice t-shirt;).
This was maybe 5 years ago and I still use that printer.
The BeanShell lets you use pure Java as a scripting language and it's almost trivial to include the BeanShell in your Java application.
See http://www.beanshell.org/.
Actually the article does not mention "case mod" at all. HP sells very high end machines to consumers and might be able to do so at a good price due to large volume. I don't think that the average gamer is also a hardware technician.
The GPL requires to share the source code for modifications and also forces any software linked to GPL code to be licensed under the GPL as well. The Apache license does neither. From my POV the Apache License is more free then the GPL while the GPL tries to keep free software free. IMHO a good compromise is the LGPL which protected the freedom of your work but does not require others to open their source when linking to your stuff.
Also very interesting: Competitions usually take place 6pm eastern time which is like 2 in the morning in Europe. Seems like Swedish, Polish and German coders can beet the Americans while sleeping;)
That's why he said So I guess I should call the OS on my Linux box GNU/XWindows/Apache/KDE/OpenOffice/Mozilla/LINUX
You could have ranted about Apache/OpenOffice/Mozilla not being part of the OS but instead you told us some totally redundant facts and your post got moderated insightful.
The Opteron does run IA32 software. Nobody will switch from Windows ME/2K/XP to a non-Windows-OS just because of the Opteron. BTW: Is it possible to run 64bit software on an 32bit OS? Maybe without the possibility of addressing all that memory but with 64bit arithmetic?
Ok I found it myself using Google. It's about the "Fritz chip" and Senator Fritz Hollings. From The Paladium Project: It's called the Fritz chip in honour of Senator Fritz Hollings of South Carolina who has been tireless in his efforts to get laws passed restricting the use of computers
Yeah, I know, OT but English is not my mother tongue. I thought, Fritz was some reference to the Germans but this does not really make sense here, does it? What does "Fritz types" mean?
You might actually destroy the airflow in the case if the only exhaust fan is in the power supply. Then the cool air will go from the intake directly to the exhaust fan and the hot air will stay in the case. Better add an intake fan near the bottom of the case front.
That's not as funny as it sounds. Those displays really decay in time and even worse, the aging of the three colors is not the same. That was mentioned here.
Cryogenic
The cooling is done using a "pulse tube", a closed-cycle cooler with no moving part, therefore no vibrations. The cold capacity is used to keep the CCD mosaic cold during the installation of the instrument at the prime focus.
AFAIK the modem (that's a DSL modem and not a cable modem!) costs 29EUR at the moment but this is still a sales promotion. Should this promotion expire it will cost 79EUR.
When I moved into my new flat I instantly ordered ISDN and DSL from Deutsche Telekom. They told me I will have it in 10-14 days and they also gave me the DSL modem. It took them 3 visits of different technicians to get ISDN working. After a month I stil had no DSL and I called them. They then tell my they are not positive about me _ever_ getting DSL and that would need an extra investigation. They do this (free of charge) and then tell me I can't get DSL because they can't find a working line (!!!). So I write a complaint to Deutsche Telekom AG, Bonn (HQ). Another month later I get a letter informing me that I now can get DSL if I still want to. Of course I wanted so I ordered it again and after a few days I got the splitter. On the positive side DSL has never stopped working since then and I never had problems with wrong bills. Friends of mine have Arcor DSL (another provider) and they all had problems with getting billed for DSL months before they actually had working DSL.
It's only one extra box (the ISDN splitter). One plugs the DSL splitter into the standard phone jack and the ISDN splitter into the DSL splitter. Done. Does not make a big difference to me since I have a large array of other blinkenlights arround (DSL modem, router...). And with ISDN and a good router (like the Vigor 2200X) you can fall back to dual ISDN if the DSL fails, although this is very rare in Germany.
Because of the need for cover? Your skull is robust enough most of the time as well so why do humans need to wear safety helmets? More interesting: Why does one of the robots watch tv instead of processing the signal itself?
65536kB is exactly 64MB not 65 or "roughly 65"...

Except the helicopter is not able to fly at very high altitudes say like in the Himalaya. So it is an AATV.

Sure you can. Here for instance: http://www.callapizza.de/
Does it have any advantage to use IPv6 today? As far as I understood it is still experimental and has no practical use yet. What did I miss?
