Boot a Linux cd (Debiang GNU/Linux for me, but you should start with mandrake) and use it to ERASE DOS(winshit 5.1 is DOS) and install a real operating system (Linux, or any UNIX derivitive) in place of it. Then install xpdf and galeon ('apt-get install xpdf galeon' in Debian and 'urpmi xpdf galeon' in Mandrake). Run Galeon in X and view the page. TaDa!
My server is only a 1ghz box w/ 2 cd burners, 1 dvd-rom, two floppies, two ethernet (one for cable one for lan), video capture and a 3d accelerator to top it off.
It is acting as a proxy server to let me post this comment and should be acting as a fully functional NAT by the end of the night.

The boss key in all of my winshit software(made w/ a virtual mac inside of Linux! I swear!) just initiates a BSOD. A crash, nice and simple. It saves the game first btw.

My first, and for obvious reasons last, tablet pc has no winshit drivers for it's pen input dealy. I'm torn between scrapping it for parts, integrating it into a robot, and making write-on display for my iBook.
We geeks are nothing without our 140+ gwam CLUIs, fancy three button mice, and source code.
Has anyone else noticed that macs, which can get context menus by holding down their only button, would be a much better choice for tablets? If their handwriting recog is as good as their speech recog they could overtake winshits within a year.
For me, it'll be a mac laptop and a PeeCee server, both with Linux, for quite a while.

Mac OS X, as beautiful as it is, still isn't mature enough for exclusive use. Any OS X software I have either runs in OS 9(MacOnLinux, which now supports OS X) or has a supperior Linux equivalent. The latter comprises most of my mac software.
until my insurance covers the resoldering of my ibook that's needed for multi-display rather than displaying the same image on two monitors in Jaguar.
Theoretically at least, Linux could run at a higher resolution than the internal LCD. Does anyone know if this would cause permanent damage? Could I develop epilepsy and have my eyes melt out of my head anyways from the flickering on an lcd at a resolution not intended for it?
btw, kudos to the Mac On Linux team; they did one hell of a job. (better documentation for networking support would be appreciated)
I would read through every fuckin line of that code before installing it inside of bochs running as a user process with no network connection behind 3 different NATs and 3 proxies.
If you will install it on your BSD system, then you are turning your back on 30 years of tradition (that has been blown away by ten years of Linux baby YEAH!)
I have gaim installed on my proxy server where I can ssh over and run it through x tunnelling if I need to direct-connect with an aim user.
It also supports my HTTP proxy server in Linux on my iBook. I would like to see iChat compatibility routines to support some of iChat's extra features like image/file transfer from behind a proxy.
All in all, open source source software whips close source to the ground. We seem to be playing 'catchup' for that one feature (grammar check for abiword *cough*) but upon closer inspection our products are better (excel at school can't edit an older excel db in place).

just use Disk Copy to make a .dmg image. Mount it and install your 'HFS+ only' software to it.
Before I erased OS X, I did this sucessfully with Bryce(now running under MoL) and Flash MX (now running under MoL).
If I do go rackmount, it will be with Xserves, provided I can return OS X and go Linux.

Was the power setting? First we had 1-10 for power, then defrost-cook, and now we just have one setting.

Go iPod, Firewire means faster transfers and it works in Linux, MacOS, and winshit.

So long as it doesn't pretend to be winshit compatible when it really only runs Linux.
