So is that error-free as in, a lot fewer dropped packets via pixie dust, or error-free as in it's so fast that you don't notice the dropped packets? I have a feeling if lightning hits the "magic glass" router, it will still screw up just like the current ones do when lightning hits them.
It's not that you might die, it's how many different horrible ways you could die. Also, the shuttle is suppposed to be a matter of national pride, launches should be celebrated like the 4th of July.
Also, spaceship earth is a big ball. If you didn't know putting a roof on a big ball would be dangerous... well, let's just say there's more than one reason houses have "flat" roofs.
There will never be another hijacking of a plane with americans on it. The shock/terror value was in the fact that it hadn't been done or talked about to the extent that it happened that day. Now that we all know, the terrorists lose the "shock/terror" value and must move on to some other thing. If you reveal what their plan is, it defuses 99% of the shock value, which is why i support reporting on any given terror plot, no matter how unlikely, because once it's out there, the public knows about it and the shock value is lost.
"They say that in the first instants after the avalanche forms, its current is proportional to the number of photons that have struck. All you have to do is measure it at this early stage."
That's nothing, I used to turn avalanche photodiodes into photon counters in my T-16 back home.
A C64 lan party is a bit like doing a quarter-mile drag race with "big wheel" plastic trikes... funny for the first 30 seconds and then really stupid and boring for the next half hour until it's finally done.
Even if this yellowcake was a WMD, it wouldn't be harmful on its own. The only WMD we ever had to worry about is the "Death to America" attitude. All the physical WMD's in the world won't kill many people if they're not wielded with the motive to kill.
The easiest way to win at something is just to declare yourself the winner as soon as you possibly can, because it's apparently much harder to reverse a decision once any kind of decision has been made on the winner (i.e. the 2000 US presidential election, where Bush just "declared" himself the victor and became president, despite actually losing the vote).
Also, the proof of something that complicated is likely so complicated that only the very best minds would even be able to prove that the proof was wrong.
Did you get the degree of B.S. in Computer science, or did you get a "B.S. degree" in Computer science? I think the former one will have a lot more benefit long-term. I have a fine art degree and I'm a senior systems engineer, so I guess you could go be an artist and we'd cancel each other out.
As a musician it is an amazing library, and it will save me hundreds on purchasing sheet music to play... for example, I can finally get the missing pages of my ancient beethoven sonata catalog back!
When I hear "...is not geared - culturally - to delivering enterprise class reliability to its user applications" as a reason to leave a company that's NOT microsoft to go work FOR microsoft, I have to wonder exactly how large the dump truck full of money was.
They didn't send you the ultimate (blank) version to demo? They may as well have put training wheels on it, sending the training-bra version to slashdot... "waah, I need to see letters on my keys!"
It's also a convenience charge, similar to how getting an umbrella at wal-mart is cheaper than getting the same umbrella at a golf course during a tournament once it starts raining.
Once word gets out that there's some restriction on a service people are used to, they will always find a way to beat it. Last century they tried to ban alcohol and that worked about as well as throttling packets will work here. Inevitably they will have to stop because they'll just force people into any goofy method that circumvents their restrictions.
I'm not... this is the same state that had swaths of people living a story below flood stage, in the direct path of yearly hurricanes, protected by a government-made wall. Then when the governor told everyone to evacuate, tons of people stayed. Let's foster some critical thinking about that logic!
"life is too complicated to have arisen without the help of a supernatural agent."
Yeah, but what supernatural agent would have created creatures that all poop?

I guess I can see the blogs if it's a statement about democratic policy in general as being maybe an issue, but twitter? Come on, you guys!

Yeah, but Shakira makes up in lack of singing talent with huge... tracts of land.
I'll take a look and tell you what's in the box...my god, it's full of stars! DUN DUN!!!!!

I concur, furthermore I'd like to see one core per pixel, that would certainly solve your high-end gaming issues.

If text messaging were really this expensive, then the unlimited plans would be like $500 per month instead of $5-15 per month.
Everyone relax, we can mine the stuff from our own landfills.

I know I "derive more enjoyment" from my definitions of "head" and "tail".
"overwhelmed by applications for large-scale solar energy plants".., that's good news. At least people are trying!
