To answer your question. Yes. My brother has been running Myth under various distros for years and I've heard of the work that used to go into it.
I built a mythbox out of spare parts just a few weeks ago using Mythbuntu 8.04. All of the installation was automatic. I had to do some configuration, mostly choosing the correct video driver, V4L driver, and pointing at the right sound card, but basic functionality was that easy. Some of the younger plugins(Mytharchive. mythweb) took a little bit of config too.
It's certainly not as easy as a Tivo, or maybe SageTV(no experience there), but it wasn't as much has a trial as I was expecting.
That is interesting about the CMOS in the Red cameras. How are they combating the "jello" and why aren't Nikon/Canon(havn't seen any MkII vids yet) doing the same thing?
Ubuntu alone is not going to "set the stage for Intel to lose the "software advantage"", or anyone else for that matter, by switching to ARM. Sure, a few thousand people will be able to switch to an ARM device without blinking, but the rest of the 99.9% of the worlds computer users won't give a flying piece of monkey poo.
Keep in mind it is a tablet. Has OSX EVER appeared on a touchscreen machine(besides the iphone)? I don't know if OSX provides the kinds of utilities needed with an input like a touchscreen. And the old hardware has already been addressed.
Yes, but if you're in the habit of reinstalling XP more then a couple times a year between machines, it is worth it. Especially the ability to include drivers so you don't have to do so much hunting for drivers every time.
If you are a windows user, just browse smart, don't open up any unneeded services and get your ass behind a firewall. Oh, and backup your stuff periodically.
I agree. I've never run an AV on windows. I've had some spyware problems in the past, but with some responsible browsing habits, there shouldn't be any reason to "contract" that stuff.
I've never understood how people accumulate all the shit that they do when they finally ask someone to "fix" their computer once it is unusable.
I had always heard similar. In the early days, lots of people where given A subnets on the assumption "We'll never need all those addresses so take a whole block!", so now large parts of Class A's are being unused, but the logistics of sorting all that out would be a pain
I mean FireFox 3.0 was touted for its "security"....In reality that browser offers even less protection / mitigation against web exploits than IE7 on Vista...
and this
I for one don't run FireFox 3.0 . . . I don't consider it even a worthy challenger (though it sure is fast) to IE7 let alone IE8 (due to lack of protection / mitigation technologies, the vuln counts etc.),
Now, I'm no expert, I'm not saying he's wrong, but what I do know is that this goes against everything I've been hearing around here.

I noticed that behavior onces today, confounded me for about 5 minutes. I'm really interested to hear what comes out about this in the coming days/weeks/hours?.

I agree, I've been using a MS Intellimouse optical 5 button(plus the wheel) foreeevver.
It's not going anywhere
By following this method, I have been able to improve the load time of each page from 6 seconds to ~

If you really want to save the trees, kill a lawyer. I'd bet one lawyer wastes more paper in a year than an entire classroom.
Done.
You can even change all that information AFTER you sign up. Everything from birthdate to place of birth to your NAME can be changed at any time.

I wouldn't want my kid talking like a bird, what the hell is wrong with you?

I still use a "Microsoft Intellimouse Optical 1.1a" 7-button. It's older then I can remember and it rocks.

I have a friend who works at the Apple store and is a big fanboy.
Guess what his former employment was?
He was a manager at a Taco Bell.
I think you're on to something

The lack of a webcam is also a feature.
Whoa, why'd it do that?
