There are feature phones that use the LTE network. Feature phones willl remain apart of the market for the foreseeable future as long as there is a demand for them.

Not everyone wants, or needs a smart phone.

Both GSM and CDMA are on the way out. The way phone makers and carriers are going is called Voice over LTE. Which basically means that in the future voice will be encoded and carried over the data LTE lines instead of a separate voice only system.

The theory is this will make phones simpler, free up radio spectrum for other uses, and improve call quality. And it will. I have tested some voice over LTE hand sets and the call quality is much better than over GSM and CDMA.

There is more to (D)SLR quality than just sensor. There is lenses too. You really don't appreciate quality lenses till you have held a expensive SLR lens. There is a reason these fuckers cost $500 to a $1,000. It's because they are worth it.

  6. I thought they were supposed to introduce wireless charging with this iPhone too...

Man, you wish. Wireless charging is one of the best features on the S7. I have several of the pads/mats that I have laying around my apartment and at work. Any place I normally set my phone I have one. It is really one of the best features to have on a phone.

I have a little "indention" in the console of my car where I normally set my phone. I'm trying to come up with a way to put a charging pad in there.

  7. What if the battery in your bluetooth just croaked and the came just went into over time. No zipping out to the quicky mart to pick up $5 earbuds....

  8. My S7 went puddle diving a few weeks back. Working fine. I bet that if my iphone 6 went into that puddle it wouldn't come out so great.

  9. Well lets see, first draw back. Now I would have to carry around this adapter when I want to use my $249 bose headphones. More than likely at some point I will lose this adapter and have to shell out 50 or a 100 bucks to replace it. It is apple after all.

I have had devices with 3.5mm jacks for going on 40 years now. I can't recall a single instance where they have been filled with lint or dust. I do remember one of them braking on a ipod but that is a different tale. And the inside of the phone isn't simpler. They added a extra speaker to the mix. Nope just as complex on the inside as ever.

I see it just the other way. No real useful upsides for anyone and mostly downsides for 99% of the people that use smartphones.

I've used everything from low end mp3 to high end aac, even flac and they all sound fine based on the hiead phone I'm using.

Last week a friend and sit there and played a game of tic-tac-toe one with a over size screen in front of the clerk. With out exception everything I have done has been accepted.

There are actually three reasons I don't like the chip and pin system too. First the current generation of readers are slow. It takes twice as long for it do its thing as the swipe system does. Then it makes same harsh noise when it accepts a transaction as it does with it rejects one. If you're standing in a line and it makes that noise it can be embarrassing.

Then I don't like that if forces me to use the same pin that I use at the ATM. I don't like giving my bank pin to a fucking gas pump.

I've started using the Samsung pay on my S7 more now. I like the fact that it gives the merchant a virtual card number tied to my phone and not the real number on my card. Then the pin that I use for that virtual card is not the same as my bank card.

While the president doesn't have a button on his desk, he does have the authority to order a nuclear strike. Nuclear football

Speaking of ignorance of the process. This is a myth also. The release of nuclear weapons and their use depends on several complex situations and who has that authority has changed through out the years. But at no point in the history after WWII has any president had the authority order a nuclear strike completely on his own, unless it is a response to an attack U.S. mainland or those of her allies.

The President can not simply get out of bed, put on his house slippers, wonder down to the oval office and nuke someone. I believe as it currently stands the use of nuclear weapons requires a 3 step process. First the recommendation has to come from the Joint Chief of Staffs. This recommendation has to go through the Secretary of Defense, who has to approve the use. Then the recommendation goes to the presidents desk for approval.

It's at this point that if all three are in agreement then the president will order the release of the codes from the "nuclear football." Most importantly the Secretary of Defense has to confirm the release of these codes too. Only when these conditions are met can nuclear weapons be used.
