Based on the article I'd assume the kid hacked in something along the lines of 'couple being held hostage in their basement, suspect armed & dangerous'
I agree, I worked as a chat based CSR for a while. It really does save so much time, especially in that you can ask the person beside you for assistance without having to make them put their callers on hold, not to mention copy & paste and of course programmable 'hot keys' for commonly used things such as introductions & requests for account info, etc.
I have google maps on my cell phone, type in what i'm looking for & it tells me how to get there.... yellow pages gives an address, which I then have to type into google maps with the number pad, not fun.
When it comes to cell phone batteries, this really isn't all that bad costwise, sure having to send it away sucks, but it cost me just as much for a new battery for my Nokia phone, and I had to put it in myself. It's not like it's just a couple of AAA NiCD batteries in the phones..
While the red & blue pixels seem a bit spread out to me with the new pattern, I'm sure this isn't much of an issue with such high megapixel CCD's these days. From the examples they seem to be suited quite well for cellphones.
You think that's bad... I had a motherboard with the same 'playing voice samples instead of beep codes'... but instead of connecting to an actual case speaker for the pc speaker, it had a tiny one soldered on the motherboard. All that came out when it tried talking was a sort of muffled buzzing sound. I had to modify the board to accept a real speaker so that I could find out what was wrong!
That is definatly one thing most people don't consider when calculating costs... I wonder how much a laser printer costs to operate versus an inkjet once electricity is factored in.. I can see this making sizable impact.
I have Primus DSL lite here in Ontario, I download about 400 Gb via Bittorrent everymonth and haven't had so much as an email from them... http://www.primus.ca/
It's True.. I download over 300 GB's a month over my supposed 'lite' DSL... I think some messed up somewhere for me to be getting the speeds I do,, but I'm not going to complain:P
My 512K/128K DSL ISP comes with 10MB of webspace... with a whole 25MB of bandwidth per month! When I read that I must've laughed for half an hour. On top of that I can only connect to my site through FTP (which is awsome,) that I can only connect to when I'm using thier connection so I can't upload files at school etc. (not awsome,,) All of the examples on thier website use screen shots of Netscape 4
My $2700 CDN laptop is covered by my parent's insurance, but only up to $2000 CDN... then you have the $1000 CDN deductable:S, not even enough left to buy a cheap laptop:(
True, although, I must admit, while the video doesn't look impressive in the least,, it definatly seems to prove at least the existance of a prototype device....
hard to say,,,, I can't say about a colour screen.. but my MP3 Player gives almost 7 or so Hrs play time at max volume with a backlit b/w (albeit small) screen on a single duracell AA (player has a 100 Mips processor). Maybe thier 10 hours is with the backlighting turned off?? during idle use?? plus battery life always seems to exagerated a little (bad, but normal..)
Geez, that's crazy... I just looked at that site in firefox and never even realized! After reading your post I went back and looked, holy crud! I must be more tired than I thought!:S It almost reminds of using Netscape ver.3 on sites that suggested IE 4 back in the day:P (okay, it can't really compare to that... but it's remincent anyways)
Sounds familier to me... http://imdb.com/title/tt0218817/
I suspect that would fall under impersonating a police officer? Not sure what the concequences are, but I'm certain it's illegal.

I'd be more excited if I could get a detailed listing of MY calls, damned cell phone companies!

It seems to be primarily a popularity issue.. You can still get them on business models from IBM & Dell, possibly others.

Well duh, they'd keep a copy of the sourcecode stored in open document format as well!

Of course the RIAA will probably extend this to the point where logging on to a site with the word 'music' on it somewhere.
Hmm,,

Well, that just takes all the fun out of it doesn't it??? Lazy bastards...
Ah yes, and we could brew our own ink using kitchen products from an opensource ink recipe book!!
Oh my, my laptop has a large warning sticker on the bottom warning of possible burns... I always took it as more of a joke.
