    Let's say i wanted to hack windows. I could either spend a bunch of time doing hacker stuff or go to windowsupdate, patch my machine (so i won't 0wn myself) and exploit the most recent patch b/c most windows users don't do windows update.

    Though i think it would make more sense for them to make you pay a 15% restocking fee if you bought custom. Apple really doesn't like selling custom computers cause it's a nuiscense for them.

    Yea, but those really bright people are working with legacy code that's been porely maintained for almost 20 years. I couldn't manage windows as well as they do, but it needs a rewrite as a networked os. As it stands now they can't do much better then they are doing now.

    Any electric device with a rechargeable battery will be affected. The iPods are no more vulnerable than most, though.

    6 months my ass. they have been so tight with ms and now they're getting backstabbed, i wouldn't be suprised if they tried to get an injunction preventing ms from realeasing this. No way they're gonna wait 6 months.

    thats cause motorolla dropped the ball. But the G5 is a very good chip and i wouldn't be supprised to see apple overake amd in preformance in the next year or so.

    Have you used osx? Didn't think so. It's designed for a one button mouse. To get a context menu, just click and hold. ctrl or rt click does the same thing. I think apple's missing out more b/c they lack a scroll wheel (but so are many pc laptops) than a right mouse button.

    Good idea, but remember you're advertising to the general public that won't believe me when i say apples use ibm processors. In fact, they think their PSs use IBM processors.

    Basically this amounts to a rocket engine, but with rock, so if you don't want to throw rocks out a boat all day, you don't have to.

    Will these be easy to deal with drivers like NVidia or ittatation ones like most winmodem drivers. If it's the first, that would be cool. If it's buggy, irritating frivers that only worh with red hat, then it's useless.

    It seems like it would make more sens for apple to put that 4.8 bil to good use instead of sitting on it by trying to expand into new markets, or if SJ doesn't think there are any new markets ready to be moved in to, selling at a loss as to get more customers. Do they keep tose cash reserves because they have been in financial trouble before and want to avoid that ever happening agiain or what? Or is 4.8 bil not nearly as much of a big deal to apple than i thought. Cauase it seems pretty wasteful it it only exists so we can easily respond to apple is dying trolls.

    I like how you list the PPC livecds, but i think a nice feature would be to also show if it runs on the G5. Nobody really seems to be sure if a given livecd distro supports G5 and i haven't found one that works yet.

    They legally can't disribute it, though. All gpl code that links against xfree would need to be made compatable with the new xfree liscense which would in turn violate the GPL. That's why this is such a big deal.

    The tablet interface has serious productivity issues, so make sure to get a convertable so you can use it as a real laptop when you actually need to get stuff done.

    I don't know what you mean by tags like these. I've never been offered an apple card or anything else i would carry into an apple store after i bought it. I foyu mena for security, i assume you're right since they leave these expensive computers (laptops especially) just sitting there. Anyone with a bag could proly nab one.

    They seemed to do a prett decent job after acquiting AT&T cable in Atlanta, imo. I don't think rates (for basic at least) changed at all. The cablle stays on all the time now, unlike kin the days of MediaOne and AT&T when any rain would make the cable go out. Whn Out cable shit itself, they sent someone out to clean the fried squirell* off the line or whatever and we were back running immediatly.

    *In a neighborhood with lots of oak trees and aboveground lines, squirrels are a major problem for utilities.
