    Thanks Apple!

Mail w/Panther has sounds associated with specific actions. Zoom/jet when 'sent' messages are done going out; simple chime when a new mail check completes without bringing anything in, and a bong/pong when there is a new mail as a result of a check.

Panther Mail had a bad habit of bonging when there was no new mail...false alarm thing. It should only bong when new mail comes in (not deleted junk, etc.).

Supposedly the false positives are corrected.

I didn't say it would be easy. In fact, I implied it would be at least 'hard'. Re-read the part about discipline. You've essentially agreed with me.

Plus it is not simply "about the combined revenue from all sources". You would bleed money that way as expenses rise in various parts. Apple's business plan is very very limited and defined in scope.

1.) Revenue is gross, and calculated separate from expenses. It is that simple.

2.) Apple's business plan is hardly limited, and obviously over the heads of the masses. Thus the hook/line/sinker mentality.

  9. Re:Easy on Off-The-Shelf Online Music Stores · · Score: 1

As you say, tt's not about having a cash flow off one product. It is about the combined revenue from all sources. This hasn't got hell to do with the dot coms, however.

If Apple can do it, so can others....the doing is in not being greedy at one point, and remembering the goal. That's aka 'discipline', and we all know how hard that is to come by in the marketplace.

No kidding (I guess the four years I worked for Samsung in Korea made me forget, sorry)...and since they have factories overseas, this somehow prevents the phones from being made inside China (as well as Malaysia)? The phones are engineered in Suwon, Korea. Samsung Electronics just completed moving all manuf. lines overseas, except for domestic goods and high-end displays.

When Nokia and Seimens decided to sell mobile phones in China, they had to agree to allow local co-ownership...this meant a two year lead on other firms, such as Samsung, which elected to wait and retain control. This phone is one of the first examples of how that wait has paid off. Samsung is free to make the units their way, without domestic partners inside China.
