no no no....it's a notebook ONLY available in Japan (since I don't think it was ever released here in the US or Europe).
Anyways, it has a small tiny tiny tiny tiny pump that moves the coolant (water + additives) thru VERY small tubing and dissipanting the heat energy from the back of the LCD screen. I thought it was Slashdotted. I know it was on Toms and [H]ardOCP
Why can't they just spend their own money to come up with better and more worthy products that'll sell during this economic downtime as opposed to using taxpayers' money to do what many consider frivolous of frivolous?
You know....following SCO and Amazon's footsteps, I should patent this method of making money during low sales.
man....saying that the reason why CD sales are down are because of piracy has the same logic as saying that the reason why 100's of thousands of ppl died in the month of August back in 1945 was because of polio (for those who've forgot, two atomic bombs were dropped in August, 1945 killing 100's of thousands of ppl).
RIAA needs to go to school and take Deductive Reasoning 101 and then proceed to take Econ 101.
like I said....I was and still am a fan of AMD, if they can get their act together and get thermal protections working like it should.
So in essence, I'm a fan of what works.
Of course, in terms of price, the newer stuff is usually expensive so give it time and the prices will come down to close to that of AMD's. And yea...if you add reliability to the bang/buck formula, sadly, P4's kick ass.
Well, I prefer a cpu that works and one where the company that makes it stands by it.
Of course, I use to be an avid AMD fan/supporter until I had just one too many dead cpus; I switched to Intel's P4. And I'm loving it. Every overclockable, and with the thermal management (throttling) that really works and higher clocks (if the clock is high enough, it can kick athlonXP's arse).
And another thing, I don't buy OEM and I choose items that come with a good warranty (no more "Death"-stars for me)
don't forget FTTH (fiber) that offers 100Mbps/100Mbps for anywhere from about 4000 yen (~$30) to 9000 yen (~$80) depending on your area and the building you are in.
plus though not all locations have the 12Mbps/1Mbps DSL, you can usually get at least 8Mbps/1Mbps.
And you can even get gigabit connections with the telco if you're a business (or if you "ask nicely"). Don't know what the price was....but my guess is somewhere in the 50,000 yen or $400 range.
It's also because there's plenty of competition and because of deregulation (though limited), that broadband has exploded.
I just have to put together an ITX box as my shell and get my parents the pipe at home. *droool*
Both WD and Maxtor have their issues....(hell...I've had more Whore Digital drives fail than Max-whore drives....and both have been out sucked by IBM's Deathstars). But the good thing is....due to their "suckability," both companies now have better RMA policies. (gotta love the advanced RMA stuff).
Speaking of RMA'ing, I rma'ed that pos WAP11 several times, and they were all defective. (one can say that it's because it was a linksys that it's defective.)
But other than those points, with all the embedded crap I've seen, an USB-interfaced grill or even ethernet interfaced grill may not be a bad idea....you get to know the status of your food from your bedroom or study.
I read it in the paper a while ago and was surprised to see anything of that magnitude come out of my school...especially from the building known to the students as the "Insane Asylum" (quite a few math instructors and professors have....well..."issues." Hell all of the calc professors had all unique "issues" [one, who was manic-depressive, was cool])
Oh well....I'm sure this will help future algorithms.
B) I loathe the CN and anime mix. I still enjoy Futurama. (you're same logic can be applied to you replying to my post)
C) poor poor guy....you're missing out.
And as for the US dvds, hell no. They overly edit the video (replace the japanese text, etc.) and then they f*ck it up by REcompressing (emphasis on the "RE" part). It's the whole interlaced and progressive/interlace havoc cocktail issue. Plus for some reason, when they process the video feed, the colors get washed out. Not to mention that the translation teams seem to be smoking something "bad."
For the love of pete! Not CN again!! They ALWAYS butcher things up. Not to mention I don't like to watch ANYTHING dubbed other than the original language (at least in english anyways; I can deal with American movies dubbed in other languages....). Why can't they use the SAP mode to air both english (for those loonies) and Japanese (true anime connoisseurs) and subtitles in the closed-captioning block of it? Of course, like all things out of our control; if it makes sense, it ain't happening.
O well....at least I have my Trigun (R2 - Japanese) DVDs which cost me an arm and half a leg and my Excel Saga (R2 - Japanese) that cost twice that...plus my limited edition Berserk (R2 - Japanese) DVD set which cost me a part of my soul and my Those Who Hunt Elves I&II + extra fan-bonus DVDs; yup, you guessed it, the rest of my soul. Awww....I love my R2 DVDs. Speaking of which, I should borrow my friends Chobits (R2) DVDs and watch them over and over. I kinda want to get Slayers (1st one, NEXT, and TRY) on DVD (though I have TRY and part of NEXT on LD back home), but lack of funds prevent it (and no...no R1 anime dvds for me).
And awww...the joys of being bilingual. I've gotta remind myself to thank my parents.
Sadly, I must agree. There are too many ppl who think that just being a part of the/. community would make them techno-wizards and obviously, this isn't the case (let alone have ANY common sense).
Hell, the comment the gentleperson made has no correlation to whether or not the Mobility is better or worse than the GeForce4 Go with the reference they pointed to. It's just like saying "because Porche released a new car that's shaped like a Ferrari, that it's faster than a Ferrari" (it neither proves or disproves it). What would it be if Porche's new car was a luxury minivan?
Besides, ATi is known for good hardware and low power consumption for their notebook gpus while Nvidia as a whole is known for good driver support and high power consumption.
Another 1 yr 1 month and 1 day to the next such "odd" day (but it'll be even). 04-04-04 For the next, odd "odd" like today's, it'll be 2 years 2 months and 2 days. This "phenomenon" will continue until 2011, with 11-11-11 unless we add a few more months to the calendar: 13, 15, etc.
*sigh* Is thy pursuit of ever-larger data storage futile?
I wonder if there's a way to boost capacity? What about the audio track of the miniDV? If it's not used, it can be used to hold parity data (PAR files, w00t!).
And a tool similar to Daemon Tools to mount it would be nice so ppl can just drag and drop it or view files (provided that they are viewing it sequentially and not randomly).
Well there's always the option of FTP over SSH2.
I'm sure you can find a Java applet that will do the SSH2 and make the tunnel needed for secure FTP.
Now when we talk about Java, there's another possibility. Some sites (cr@ck) use a Java downloader. It doesn't mean that the Java applet that downloads the file uses HTTP or FTP, it can be some sort of propriety protocol (or you can combine the best of both worlds.)
One way is to have the applet on a SSL'ed (https) page and it does some decrypting as it downloads a pre-encrypted file from your FTP. Or the person can just download the encrypted file directly and use the applet on the secured page to decrypt it. There's ALWAYS a way to have your cake and eat it all by yourself, too.
DUH! And no..I don't remember it as if I experienced it. I'm not THAT old. (Strom Thurmond joke....rimshot plz).
Anyway my point was to be specify as opposed to vague (in other words, just like not all people from the Middle-East are terrorists, not all current Republicans are terrorists^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hracists [sorry....got shallowed up by the literary rhythm]. And also true is just because I look and sound white doesn't mean I like to wear bedsheets [400 count Egyptian cotton for me btw]) IF you want vague, go to news.com or something, not/.
FYI and BTW, this post contains enough sarcasm to feed a family of six.

Hitachi came out with a watercooled P4 notebook a while back....

Call Dateline.
/.'ed it, some online publications are likely to take it up.
But the good thing is, since you
Public opinion and exposure can help embarass law enforcement that they turned the other cheek.
Though I could've sworn that the not-so-Patriotic Patriot Act is suppose to cover this.

SCO...the neo-Rambus?
Hmmmm...is it only me who finds it a bit suspicious that it's the New York Times that's reporting this?
The old axiom "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me" comes to mind.
lets just hope gray "I love kickbacks^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hcampaign contributions" davis just signs it in or I may have to shove TOSCO up his arse :p

Yup...it's the late Dr. Atkins' approach to data storage; proteins.
:-p
I wonder if protein shakes will increase storage capacity.

NetJunkie is right you know.....it wasn't until I put the Dlink firmware onto the POS WAP11, that it actually started to work the way it should've.
Either way, if it's Linksys, run....RUN....RRRUUUUUNNNNN!!!!
errrr....sorry man....I can't agree here.

Just a few cents.
I know it's a part of the bitstream but I'm asking if the bits normally reserved for audio are used too?

Well...my VAIO has that....builtin Orinoco, ethernet, firewire, and USB. And it's lightweight (2.75lb).
