Even though you've said this for fun - I think it has a large amount of truth in it. If companies actually thought about want their customers wanted then we'll all be a lot happier (and the companies richer). Apple isn't one of these companies unfortunately, but, and it's a big but, they did listen to ONE cutomer and his name was Steve Jobs: "too complicated", "not loud enough", "make it smaller". I wonder if Sony's CEO took any interest in their MP3 players.
mmm...if you equate a positive comment about Apple to loving them, then, yeah, i think there's lots of love here. If on the other hand you expect everyone to bash Apple because either it's an irrelevant company in the OS world and because of it's overpowering monopoly-like stranglehold on the MP3-pod market then, yeah, you can count me out.
Am I an Apple fanboy...no. But I do own an Apple, so I guess that, by your logic, automatically makes me irrelevant to the conversation (due to my irrational "love" for the company). Talk about a lose-lose situation!
In fact, i just stopped watching Enterprise altogether. I suddenly found out what a *good* SF series feels/tastes like. For me this is better than ALL the Star Trek TV series. Imagine actually having real actors (Patrick Stewart not included) on an SF show? Shock, horror. I think BSG05 is more like West Wing (seasons 1-4) and Six Feet Under than a typical SF show.
the only thing that Discovery-History have done is to lower the quality of the documentary. In fact there style is now being copied by the BBC (esp Horizon). This thing of making every documetary a tug-of-war between two ideas with every scene a cliff-hanger ("will the neutrions be discovered in time...or will slip pass his detectors" Dun dun daaaaaaaa)

well maybe that is a good idea. You pay the tax and you get free (probably by then) wireless. of course, it might be a good idea to start implementing this scheme too.
If you want to beat a great idea don't copy it, come up with a BETTER IDEA!
Hear, hear. I also can't believe that people don't see this too. Of course, you can see why they copy. Doing something better, usually means doing something different and that means taking risks. Doing the same will at least mean no one can point the finger at you and say "see, i told you it wouldn't work". Well that's one of the reasons why:)
talk about strawman argument. No-one said this was the first SFF pc (maybe the Cube could be a contender for that one - can anyone check on this?). What people are saying is that of the SFFs it's definitely one of the smallest. And the nicest looking. (The PC SFF ones look like a car-stereo designer made them. Yuck!)
Anyway, everyone is going on how small the mac mini is but they're all too lazy (and have better things to do) than preface all of there comments with "Even though Apple were not the first people to make an SFF, the design of the mac mini is evolutionary quite spectacular...". By the way is there a (underpowered) PC that is as small as the mac mini?
most of continental Europe (well Belgium) gets BBC1 and BBC2. Most importantly, we do also pay for it (though my city pays it for me via our council tax). It's two of the 15-20 channels we get via cable. So it's not just the British paying for this quality service.
I too watch it because it has no commericals but to be honest they have 90% crap. (I mean how many hours a week do we need to see auctioning programs and yet once in a while we get a new episode of HIGNFY and nothing for a few months after. In fact wasn't Monday night meant to be comedy night on BBC2? That lasted for a few weeks.....My nurse says I should stop now.)
No. The World Service is similar in function (historically) to VOA (Voice of America). Pretty much they both started out as propaganda
tools to their colonies. Hence we have the Foreign Office for the World Service and Office of Wartime Information for the VOA. I still think VOA is fulfilling its role, as the World Service is now one of the best independent news service in the world (making it's sister[?] organisation look like Fox News:) with a slight taste of English pride mixed in.
Ciao
PS Disclaimer: I last heard VOA at least 10 years ago and found it very, very pro-American. The World Service is also pro-UK but mostly in a quaint way.
it used to be on at 1:30am on friday and saturday.
but as usual they moved it...and probably moved it back. I usually catch it after some late-night channel hopping (and about 3 seconds before those "commercial" breaks that last for 15 minutes come on and then they show the last bit of the Daily Show International Edition with him saying "thanks for watching...")
I haven't seen a single Mac/iPod TV ad for the 5 years I've been living in (continental) Europe. I have about 7 countries worth of TV channels and have never seen any of these ads.
I don't know if this is Apple's policy wrt Europe (don't spend any ad money on TV/radio) or I just don't watch enough commercial TV?
maybe you just read the blurb and didn't see it in action.
The point is that it gives instant results (like iTunes search of your library or Google suggest). All other searches give you a typical type ina few words and hit return (say like iTunes search in the iTunes music store)
importantly it also looks like fun app

PS smart folders must be one of the best things that will come out of it too...so did you actually read the write blurb??

You are right, if Apple is targeting the gym market with the Shuffle then it should have an FM receiver due to the reasons you've stated.
Since I haven't been to a gym for a couple of years this is news to me.

They do give examples though...except for actually finding a file.

PS Yep I know how to do it now. And anyone that does give me an example make sure it works on solaris and not on linux. It's not the same thing :)
Now lets look at uninstalling software. OSX wins again, then *nix's and then be a long margin Windows.
