Are some of the reasons why people are avoid them. In todays society you have a lot of braindead kids who have grown up on violence and sex, which is what Microsoft and Sony capitalize on. That's not to say you wont find games like that on Nintendo, but for the most part they aim their games at the generation of gamers who look for FUN over BREASTS.
Movie Cinemas and Lights in my area constantly change hues and colors by season and by mood of movies etc.. This has been done. It doesn't matter if it's been done on a cpu, case, etc because it's been done: peroid. Nothing new here folks, move along.
Sorry, but your "gaming habit" is being produced by the very people you think have "no similarities to the US or US consumers". Capcom, Sega, Namco, Konami, etc etc are all based out of Japan. If you want to ignore it, then so be it. But I would think that is entirely ignorant. Without Japan, there is no console industry.
If that doesn't say something, I don't know what will. What say you? And no, it is not selling like hotcakes. 150,000 is a very very poor number. Compare that to the first two days of Zelda in Japan, the second largest console market just behind USA, which sold 450,000.. Yes, in TWO DAYS. That is "hotcakes" for Japan. For the USA, nearly double that and you might be getting somewhere.
Obviously you've got a C64, since you're typing in 40 char width. I'm filing this into my demographic. I'll let you know when my product ships to get your GC online via your 300 baud modem you're using on that C64.
Of the three XBox owners I know, none of them liked XBox Live at all. They all decided the same thing: Playing games online is best played on the PC.
And for those who want to jump out and say "But who wants to buy an expensive PC to play games online, when it only costs $200 to buy an XBox."..
Well, consindering you NEED broadband to play XBox Live, this basically translates that the person has some fat cash to pay a $50+ monthly fee for internet access. Do these types of people typically have really crap computers? No. MicroSoft has walked into a virtual minefield without looking at marketing demographics first. The people that will keep this afloat are people without broadband and decent computers, which are NOT the people who can actually use it.
And after your first free year, targeted monthly rate for this service will be $10-15/Month. It's not set in stone, but if it is any lower than $10, they will lose money on every single player.
You can see why Sony and Nintendo are taking their time. Leave it to Microsoft to boldly blunder into a market area it is entirely unfamiliar with and die, then work out a program that actually *works*.
SEGA has released a dev kit for all games to get online who uses its SDK which is cross platform compatable with PS2 and Gamecube.. So people who want to play Football on both systems can play each other seamless. They plan on putting up a "Blizzard" type of service where it will be free, etc etc.. Who knows if this will take off. I predict: No. At least not unless the PC dies a horrible death.
They had an episode where a horror latex costume designer made a copy of his arm/hand and sold a few hundred of them. People were killed and finger prints were left all over the scene with the fake rubber arms/hands.. But as it turned out, it was the guy who made the arms/hands in the first place.. So... But yeah, they've already done something like it.. sorta
They won the award for hacking into peoples computers, which may or may not be a pirates. Who really knows with IP Spoofing, etc.. For all we know, they could hack into some CIA machine and wipe it out because someone spoofed the address.. Joy of joys. Read a little, would ya? The RIAA is evil, no doubt. But not because of piracy, but because their sales model is failing and they can't see it's obvious that $15 CDs cant compete with feature loaded $15 DVD movies with the soundtracks included as "extras" as an afterthought. They dont want to come to the conclusion that the only way to make money is to sell their music CDs for 5 bux a pop, cuz thats all that they're worth today compared to music based feature rich $15 DVDs.
Maybe 5 years from now there will be 10 or more... We can only hope. Personally, I wish they'd just break Microsoft up already. They're using their profits leverage in the OS platform to fuel their mega-profit-loss XBox initiative to try and snuff out Sony and Nintendo by sheer loss of revenue hoping Sony and Nintendo just throw the towel in by not being able to compete with such profit losses. It's lame.
I remember trying to get my hands on every magazine about Doom when it came out. All of them contained pictures and articles about Romero. It was great, he seemed so into games, and gaming history and what id wanted to do with the future. He was the chest thumper, which no one has EVER seen the likes of in this industry. And we still haven't seen anyone come close since.
Truely the David Lee Roth of the computer industry.
Same thing, different application. Unauthorized use of their bandwidth. I can't wait till all forms of corporate advertising is illegal on the net, thats going to rock.
He HAS been moving forward, and I agree with you. The decision to being GBA games to your TV is where Nintendo will banish all thoughts of Nintendo doing the wrong thing. He has found a way to appeal to classic gamers who prefer amazing 2D based games (GBA Games), and those who like the latest 3D games (Gamecube Games), and has FUSED THEM TOGETHER onto one system, that both types can play on the TV. If this isn't making the impossible possible, then I dont know what is. Castlevania: SoTN was a glimpse into what people really wanted to play, yet they never followed up with more 2D side scrolling games. It looks like Miyamato will have to bring them all to the masses again without losing face by doing it directly on the console. You kill two birds with one stone. Everyone wins. Well, except Sony and Microsoft, but that's not really the topic at hand.
Totally agree. Someone like Blackley should not even have had his comments on this article. Just because he helped design the PortBox, doesn't give him any credability to talk of such things until he's actually written someone as innovative as Miyamato has. Even then I would be hesitent. Traspasser was far and away one of the most bug ridden and terrible games i've ever played. It was a pile of crap, and left the majority of players wondering how that game even got published in the first place.
The only reason I can think he said that is because when Microsoft went to Nintendo and asked them if they would like to merge to create a console, Miyamato probably looked at what games they wanted to do, and who they wanted to target and said no. Microsoft has the biggest ego in this industry, and it wouldn't surprise me Blackley is still feeling burned that they couldn't buy out a genious like Miyamato. And with all these recent sales losses on the PortBox, it looks like Microsoft may be folding shop next XMas if the platform doesn't take off soon.
I found that whole fiasco to be so incredibly stupid. He wanted to go on the station for a cool 25 million. Great, theres something to do with your money when you have too much. Then the next day you find out he wants people to SPONSER him and pay his way up there.
First off, no one likes him. No one. Nada. Not a single person. When his name is mentioned our heads start to hurt. So why would he even CONSIDER asking people to pay for him.
Second, if you announce that you want to go, and go through all these tests, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU EXPECT TO PAY FOR IT YOURSELF YOU WORTHLESS POS. Why bother? Why waste everyones time and hopes?
The expression "god die" is so much of an understatement it isn't funny.
Who the hell wants to run cables and set up software on their PC to their home theater system 2 floors away? Not I. The PCs versions of Tivo are just kludges and you know it, so quit bringing it up. Buy your Tivo and be done with it.
Well, the answers you seek are in the studies themselves. Instead of trying to make up other dumb ideas such as bricks hitting faces, why not look at the facts scientists are finding everyday instead of trying to ignore them?

A lot of people have been pushing to move the controls to other games because it works so wonderfully.

Perhaps he meant that he needed a DSL/CABLE router so he could actually use it? Those are typically around $100 ...

I'd love to see that. Hahahahahahahaa oh I slay me.

I don't think GameSpy game out till 94 or so where it encapsulated IPX packets into TCP over the net, and even then it was too damn slow to use.
GenX falls into the category of Colecovision AND Nintendo .. GenY is after Nintendo...

Geez man.. And you JUST did this? Where have you been living these past 5 years?

Sounds like the small boys are the ones who are getting mad. Too bad the big boys are already enbracing it.
