I'd advise you to get a running build environment set up using either ant or make. Your goal should be the case where you can do a fresh checkout of your project, type one command, and have the whole system build itself.
An IDE will compile your code, sure, but as a project gets larger and larger you'll find yourself needing to automate other tasks. If you're already comfortable with ant or make then you'll naturally fold these new tasks into your build scripts.
Expect congestion and unreachable people if you try to join them on their cell phones.
Londoners have been warned to stay at home. Commuters have been warned to avoid London.
Good to see it's business as usual in London then;)
Because the number of people using a non-IE browser is negigible (or it has been, up to now).
Blah blah netcraft confirms it blah blah 10% install base, blah blah blah, blah. I know IE is teh SuXXor and firefox is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but google are doing mozilla a favour by porting their app to a niche browser
I know what you mean about the scroll wheel. I used to get a noticeable pain after a couple of pages.
I forced myself to unlearn the scroll wheel and start using the Page Up/Down, Home and End keys instead. The best thing is that it's more comfortable, but the funniest thing is when other coders at my workplace get amazed when I can scroll to the top or bottom of a file in just one keypress.
If you're on Windows, then clicking the scroll wheel and moving the mouse up and down a bit is comfortable too. I miss that when I'm working on linux (I use KDE, maybe something else does it)
It's a pity they couldn't slip a spell checker (or even better a human being) into the content management pipeline somewhere.
The BBC television and radio news are both far and away the best in the world, but the errors that routinely find their way into the online version are shocking.
The bottom line is that console manufacturers often heavily subsidize their new machines, swallowing huge losses up front in hopes that they'll make it all back selling games
Another factor is that a year down the line, the hardware is much cheaper. A PS2 costs practically nothing to produce these days.
This is a great problem for the Xbox, as intel chips don't tend to drop in price a great deal, they just get faster and faster for the same price.

Anybody who uses it is a terrorist. (Or a pEvilbeardTrrist, as they like to call themselves)
In your bathroom
I look forward to a rival project providing some realistic competition.
That's fucking terrible. That's one in twenty calls failing.
imagine if your car broke down once a fortnight either going to work or coming home; absolutely unacceptable.
Hell, imagine if your car broken down once a year.
In telephony, anything below five nines is an absolute joke.
Well I found that incredibly funny, even if the mods didn't. Bravo!
But, but, but, they're not going to get any money and political influence that way!
Ask it what's better out of BSD and GPL
It was a joke.

whoops, a typo in the word and the link! If only I had the google toolbar to correct my speeling ;)

I hadn't really considered the importance of it being GPL rather than L GPL.
Why's that?
And as such should really be referred to as GUN/ESR, not just ESR.
Fuckin ell, who'da thunk it?
Cool.
That's all true, but slashdot readers love arguing and the truth should never be allowed to get in the way of that ;)

(*shrug* I dunno, that's only a guess. I use Debian Sarge)

lol :) I wish I'd seen this comment before posting as I have mod points today.
Sorry, couldn't resist! ;p
It turns out there is no 'FA' to 'R' :|
