less impressive when comparing "python -O"; the rest was various

This is a big improvement. The biggest advantage of using a
programming langage like python is the fast development time (5X-10X
faster than C++). If the speed of execution of python scripts can be
made comparable to compiled C/C++ code, then it would be awesome.
Python programs can never be as fast as compiled code,
but if the difference in the speed is not significant, it will be a big
win for Python

I have been observing that most of the notebooks dont use Nvidia graphic cards. Instead they prefer using mobility Radeon or some cheaper on-board cards. This is problem for me, because I am looking to buy a notebook on which I will install linux. Nvidia has fantastic linux drivers, so I wont have to worry about hardware 3D acceleration, if I buy a notebook with Nvidia graphic card. But I just dont see any notebooks in the market with Nvidia graphic cards.
How does Radeon behave under linux in notebooks? . How is the 3D acceleration in mobile Radeon 8500+ ? Are the opensource drivers good for full screen DVD playbacks? (I usually test hardware acceleration by playing TuxRacer)

One of the strong points of Python language is its clean and intuitive syntax. Perl is a very powerful language, but its strong point is *NOT* neat syntax.

RIAA has attributed this increase to an increasing sharing of music by *thieves* on the internet. SCO is claiming that the increase in the sale of wireless LAN equipment is primarily due to linux. Ans since linux has SCO's IP, SCO is planning to sue all the manufactures of wireless LAN.
DivX and xvid are both very CPU intensive codecs. I believe there is one DVD player available in european market which does plays DivX. Hopefully others will follow soon
Absolutely right. Python kicks ass!! I used python to develop a behavioral modeling tool during my Phd thesis, and absolutely loved it. GUI development using PyQT is sweet .
I really dont care about Nvidia's drivers not being open-source as long as they promptly release the official version of their drivers for all the major linux distributions. Ease of installation matters, and full points to Nvidia for understanding that.
I had downloaded the matrix reloaded trailer but could not get the adio working for mplayer. Someone on slashdot suggested to download and install faad2 libraries, but I could never get mplayer to play the audio in the matrix reloaded trailer.
But the good news is that with this new version of xine, you can play the matrix reloaded trailer with full audio support. Its cool!! especially because you cannot play it in fullscreen mode in win2k using quicktime (It only allows to double the image size, but no full sceen mode).
BTW installation was a breeze. Just downlaod the lib and ui source and do the following for both of them../confure make make install
In the beginning, Lindows made tall claims like the ability to run *all* the windows application. Somewhere down the line, they figured out that it was not going to be easy, so they just chickened out.
I may be wrong, but I get a feeling that they just want to make quick and dirty money and then vanish.
