  2. Re:erm... recession? on Yet Another Look at CD Sales · · Score: 1

yes, but this "dip" in CD sales has been noticed and pointed out way before 9/11 and the current economic woes, dont forget how old napster is, or better how long ago it was popular and mainstream, thats when they "noticed" a dip in sales.

Are you on crack? The article is saying they get phone service AND internet service for the same price (ie NOTHING has changed other than getting FREE net service), so they're not paying $0.25 for internet access, they're paying it for the phone call,....its just like in america where you dial up AOL, not only do you pay AOL but you pay the phone company, so in essence the service in question is a better deal than what the parent post mentioned.

  7. Re:I don't like it .... on Free Internet Access Is Profitable In Egypt · · Score: 1

According to the article (which you of course read), the $0.25/hr charge is for the PHONE CALL, not the internet service (which is $0.00/hr).

  9. Not to be... on The Return Of The Live Human Being · · Score: 1

Pessimistic or anything regarding our society, but I think a good margin of people are within a significant level of anti-social behavior such that they rather not "have" to deal with a human, and are willing to sacrafice a level of service to accomodate the want.

Many times I need to contact a company regarding an issue and many times I just dont feel like dealing with customer service (especially ISPs), so I just send an email and go back and forth with that....

Cytlid has a good point - you get a T-1 from the phone company (or a reseller/CLEC) and it either IS a T-1 or it IS NOT.

I disagree with that line, at least with out reseller they had a range of fractional T1,....are you saying that a fractional T1 isn't a T1? What is it then? DSL with a party hat?

  16. Oh please..... on Are Video Phones Back From The Dead? · · Score: 1

There is far to many redudant posts here complaining how a "video phone" will ruin communications,....you dont think there will be an option to turn off video (just have audio) in this device if not future ones? Or in the very least just put towel or whatnot in front of the camera,......that wasn't so hard, now was it?

I think its the mere idea of having this as an option makes it neat, no need to jump down its throat simply because you can't see the two sides of it....

I think its a bit more simple than that....your average Joe Sixpack isn't going to give a damn if any part of his computer is "DRM" qualified, the overwhelming majority of PC owners probably dont even know this problem exists, much less care....so no, I dont think capitalism (seen in a basic, non government intrusive, model) would work, the demand simply does not exist to justify the supply....
