You mean all these years I've been trying to figure out the composition of the magic smoke that makes my machine run and its been Xenon the whole time!?
My guess is faeries. They captured a whole mess of them and have chained them to tiny little switchboards in the machine. I was going to say leprachauns, but the extra gold they carry around would make the machines too heavy.
But I remember hearing awhile back that Lucas was going to give the Star Wars Kid a part in Episode III (I think that's the name- the overweight kid thrashing around his garage with a homebrew lightsaber). I've seen it, but didn't recognize anyone meeting the rather vague memory I have of him. Was there any follow-up? Any SW fans know what happened?
As for the petrol swingers; sounds like they crossed the streams. Which is bad.
Netcraft just confirmed BSD's death. How can this be possible?
In all seriousness tho' I'm looking for a free/OSS platform on which I can write, teach myself coding, play with graphics, and that's about it. Currently I'm using Morphix Light, but I'm not yet entrenched in it. Is OpenBSD a better choice?
To having the possibility that whoever controls the server will decide to do away with a package you consider absolutely critical, and you have no recourse whatsoever?
The tinfoil hat worry is that, with all the data in a central repository, whoever controls the repository controls the information. If the idea that this could be the government doesn't scare you, imagine if it were Microsoft. Or, if you want to stay up all night in a cold sweat, imagine some Enron or SCO type of company rising to power. It might not actually make 1984 come to fruition, but it could certainly knock down a whole lot of barriers.
That was my same thought when I read this. If you're going to do a MMPORPG in the in one of the Games Workshop universes, than you really ought to set it in 40k. Just the sheer number of planets and constant conflicts could keep the game fresh for years.
The cynical side of me thinks that this makes far too much sense and they'll go with a straight Warhammer Universe; using logic like, "Look at how successful WoW and Everquest are! People want another fantasy setting."
I think the secret is not knowing that its cheesy and thinking its good. If you really want to experience the cheese factor, read the movie scripts themselves. Wow. Gives quite a bit of hope to us aspiring screenwriters that dialogue can be that awful and you can still be that successful.
I'd say its pretty likely. I certainly wasn't posting it for originality;-) I seem to recall hearing it back in High School days, a decade and a half ago. I don't know why, probably because I heard them from either the same person (my best friend) or at the same time, but whenever I think of the Dumpsville line, I also think of,
"If you're not going to buy a clue, at least test drive one."
'The Presidio will feature 600 miles of fiber-optic cable. 4,000 processors and 150 terabytes of storage -- massive computing power and speed, with the ability to work 10 times faster than they can today.'
Wow, so for every Jar-Jar rendered, there can be 10 more just like him! Flippancy aside, I do wonder that the ability to make eye-candy that much faster might actually have a negative effect on movie going.
I'm not so sure I want to support a program that turns "My $.02" into a literal statement. Seems that even when you get a "penny for your thoughts" you're still taking in only half as much as your spending.
What's missed in the article by Dvorak is that the O'Gara went beyond the bounds of ethical journalism. It was not intended to inform or to even comment on events, it was designed to make one individual look bad. I think that the LinuxWorld editors did the right thing in leaving because any ompany that doesn't have an issue with that kind of journalism, is not one that you really want to work for.
I think that that point was lost on Dvorak. Whether or not O'Gara is a paid shill or not is beside the point- what she did was not, and should not be considered by Sys-Con, to be appropriate.
When this happens sales reps are ready to kill us IT guys.
Local Police are reporting tonight on the death of the entire IT staff at a local internet shopping centre. The victims were beaten senseless with several tennis rackets and golf clubs shortly before being run over by a Corvette, three Porches, and a BMW 5si.
Police refuse to confirm or deny the use of expense reports in the binding of the victims, although a couple bloodied credit cards were found at the scene next to half a dozen Venti Lattes from Starbucks and a pile of old business cards.
I wonder what they could have done with the series if, instead of a prequel, they had focused on the later years of the Federation. Have it be the only Superpower remaining, that sort of thing. You could even incorporate religious strife, terrorism, and the fight to keep a large stable society from decaying. I realize that that kind of fictional universe might have made for some squirming TV Execs, but I also think that, if it had survived its first season, that it would still be on the air.

Except of course that he is looking for something under $50, which neither of your links provide.
Mixed metaphors are just spilled milk under the bridge.
Maybe they saw some Ewoks and went clubbing.

Any word on whether or not they'll tour Santa Ana for the historical irony of it?
So how long before they start mining PHB's brains for Exotic matter?
Tabula Rasa is Latin for Blank Tablet
That is all.

Not only do they run timely current stories, but they allow for incredibly insightful commentary on the stories they post. Like this;-)
Its sites like this that really illustrate just how powerful and useful the Web can be. That and Slashdot of course.
You forgot to put your pinky in the corner of your maouth as you typed, thereby rendering your claim null and void.

I don't know about that. The last card I got from Hallmark wasn't all that romantic at all.*

Welcome to dumpsville,
Population - YOU!

You owe me $1.00.

Best description of Slashdot. Ever.

Police believe a computer glitch is responsible.
