Pittsburgh's always been a strong college town with CMU and Pitt, especially with the extremely strong UPMC hospital group. A few years ago, city leadership finally figured out that if they encouraged those students to stick around post-graduation, they might just have something there. Furthermore, housing prices were depressed in Pittsburgh before the housing bubble, so values increased to more in line with actual worth, as opposed to going far beyond. When the bubble burst, there was little to no drop in values.
Oh, and the NYTimes has been written a couple nicearticles lately.
I think it's a bit antagonistic to attack the US from being different from European tradition in this case, as the European systems had to grow overtop of centuries of infrastructure that had evolved to fill the needs of the average user who probably didn't even have a horse.
The cities of the US have had a much shorter lifespan and had very different technologies* available at the time of their construction. Even more fun, start out with the older cities settled 'organically' on the East Coast and then move on to cities that were founded much later, and you'll get no end of differences.

Hah! First you'd have to get through "We've detected that program 'FrontBumperCrumpleSensor.exe' is trying to access 'DeployAirbag.exe'. Would you like to
I'll pass on using mod points because I don't see anyone else asking this yet: Is there anything in the requirements that says that Verizon cannot charge for people to use any compatible device? Can we run our applications without them charging us money? Do they have the right to 'shape' bandwidth once somebody figures out how to torrent stuff over this network? Can I IM without them exacting an exorbitant fee per message?
In short: Are we gonna get screwed through a loophole?/rhetorical
I think the point here is that parts of DX10 can be ported, but not the entirety of it. You, Cyberax, say that since those are the important parts, then it's still DX10. Vux is saying that if it's less than DX10, then it's not DX10. But it's all moot because MS isn't interested. Now everybody hug and make cookies.
I could appreciate the frustration if not for the fast-travel system present in Oblivion. You could essentially fly to any landmark you'd previously seen without having to suffer the meaningless incidental combat along the way. It can be argued that it can take you out of the moment, but it sounds like you should try using it more.
The Ziff Davis group, via 1UP.com, is one of the few print media for the games industry that has made the successful transition to an online format. They started by generating a strong website with a excellent brandname, and then they've gone on to develop well followed podcasts along with the 1UP Show* I don't read the Ziff Davis magazines. Heck, I don't visit their website even, but I know that I'll get a good, insightful listen each Friday on the "1UP Yours" podcast.
Oh, and in hopes of showing some impartiality, Gamespot's Hotspot is worth a listen too, although it's more of a Sportscenter funny to 1UP Yours's... um, McLaughlin Group?
Which is exactly why we need to upgrade to Occam's Laser, which probably runs "With all things being equal, lasers are the best solution". For example, see the original case of "Solo vs Greedo"
Yeah, but if you open it, the li-ions will get out and eat us!
And you see what wonders it's done for Paris

I'm going to have to say that it's barely been 24 hours and I'm already thoroughly sick of the word "Wii". It's obnoxious. It's embarrasing. I wouldn't feel comfortable telling my mother that I wanted this for Xmas... especially as I'm 28! I previously wanted to buy a Revolution on launch day. I'd wait in line. Now I have to deal with the social embarassment of not only being an adult wanting to buy what's perceived as a child's toy, now I also have to negotiate the social stigma that comes with the word "Wii" That's embarrasing.

Email this guy? He says he got the Apple II version working with more ease than the DOS version. And Richard Garriott sent him a crossbow!

On the other hand, the people at the heart of the mortgage fiasco were the ones who grew up in the paper delivery generation.
But to take it back the other way, this is the same generation that's doing such a poor job of raising kids nowadays.
Multiple cats? A penis? What is it?!
I'm no theologian, but the lore indicates that Muhammad might have been a cat person.
No, I think she knows how to read the wiki article. Try reading the whole thing instead of just the first paragraph.

Didn't EA do this to Looking Glass? *sniffles* and they wonder why we don't love
I'll pass up moderating to answer this.

I'm looking forward to the fruits of labor by those intrepid hackers who want to hook up the WiiMote to a PC via Bluetooh
