I'd want to see some proof before believing this. I'm dissapointed, but even though Darwin is free, they still have to pay someone to administer the server.

Sucks, and I'm sorry to see this happen, but there might be a reason beyond NPR demanding a payoff. Could just be cost cuts...there's been a lot of that going around lately.

The lack of a start menu and context menus are a throwback.

Um, there are context menus, just control-click, or hold down your mouse button for a few seconds, or use a multi-button mouse and right-click

Want a start menu? Just drag your Applications folder into the dock. Now if you click-and-hold on that folder, you'll get a pop-out list of all the files and folders in "Applications." It gives you almost the same functionality as the start menu in XP and it's much easier to organize by making new folders in "Applications" than it is to fiddle with the Control Panel in XP.

There's got to be a bank out there that would be willing to go this route. All they would need to do is issue a temporary Visa/MasterCard number with an organizational name that would be backed by an initial cash deposit. You could even replenish your account if you wanted to keep the same number for a while. Is there some legal reason why this couldn't be done?

Great 3 years in prison is plenty of time for them to learn how to be a real criminal. And since the felony will create problems getting a job when they get out, they will have the inclination to do illegal things for money so they can eat and pay rent.

There just isn't enough violent crime in the US anymore. Let's all thank the Texan for finding a way to correct that problem.

I'd agree with the addition that the Directors and studios shouldn't be able to re-direct or re-edit it either.

If it's done, call it done. Painters don't show up at a museum years later to revise a painting. Either everyone should be allowed to edit or nobody should be allowed to edit.

My guess would be the former, remember when the new iMac came out and Apple had to delay shipping new orders, then raise prices because of an display shortage?

Maybe they pushed production a little too hard after that, iMac sales dropped off, now thay're stuck with a glut of screens and reduced demand.

Apple should have done this months ago, that is if they're interested in making more money. Bad business decision, IMHO.
