I'd want to see some proof before believing this. I'm dissapointed, but even though Darwin is free, they still have to pay someone to administer the server.
Sucks, and I'm sorry to see this happen, but there might be a reason beyond NPR demanding a payoff. Could just be cost cuts...there's been a lot of that going around lately.
The lack of a start menu and context menus are a throwback.
Um, there are context menus, just control-click, or hold down your mouse button for a few seconds, or use a multi-button mouse and right-click
Want a start menu? Just drag your Applications folder into the dock. Now if you click-and-hold on that folder, you'll get a pop-out list of all the files and folders in "Applications." It gives you almost the same functionality as the start menu in XP and it's much easier to organize by making new folders in "Applications" than it is to fiddle with the Control Panel in XP.
There's got to be a bank out there that would be willing to go this route. All they would need to do is issue a temporary Visa/MasterCard number with an organizational name that would be backed by an initial cash deposit. You could even replenish your account if you wanted to keep the same number for a while. Is there some legal reason why this couldn't be done?
Great 3 years in prison is plenty of time for them to learn how to be a real criminal. And since the felony will create problems getting a job when they get out, they will have the inclination to do illegal things for money so they can eat and pay rent.
There just isn't enough violent crime in the US anymore. Let's all thank the Texan for finding a way to correct that problem.
Yes, and he would destroy Batman, no sweat. I recall Lobo fighting after having limbs torn off and being riddled with hundreds of bullet holes....gonna take more than a psycho with a utility belt to beat Lobo.
It's no one elses right to re-direct, unless it was specifically covered in the contract.
I'd agree with the addition that the Directors and studios shouldn't be able to re-direct or re-edit it either.
If it's done, call it done. Painters don't show up at a museum years later to revise a painting. Either everyone should be allowed to edit or nobody should be allowed to edit.
They may have a ton of displays, or they may be trying to move the inventory for the very fact that they are releasing a new tower.
My guess would be the former, remember when the new iMac came out and Apple had to delay shipping new orders, then raise prices because of an display shortage?
Maybe they pushed production a little too hard after that, iMac sales dropped off, now thay're stuck with a glut of screens and reduced demand.

Um, not to repeat myself but there's something called BREW that will let you download a game to your handset for a fee, then play whenever you want without using your minutes.
Nah, Sony hit the break-even point for their hardware investment months ago. They're no longer taking a loss for console sales. Microsoft on the other hand...

This software saves Apple a lot of trouble. It will shut up everyone who has been clammoring for Apple to provide windows software, but Apple doesn't actually have to support it.
Seems like it saves Apple a lot of potential revenue as well. Kind of hard to compete with #1 when you aren't even willing to make money off the use of your own hardware.
Apple should have done this months ago, that is if they're interested in making more money. Bad business decision, IMHO.
don't forget...
4. Aliens, tired of endless Mike Meyers sequels, have decided to side with Fat Bastard and Dr. Evil in order to kill Austin Powers.
"Yeeeah baby ARRRRGGGGH!!!"
That sort of thing is what will destroy the arcade games industry:-(
Sorry, you can't kill something that's already dead. If anything, such a move would help your local arcade by making it easy for them to put some of the classics in front of people again.
...MAME is nice but this is not enough of an incentive for me to throw more money at Microsoft. Death to the X-Box!.
Great News! Now instead of just having my wallet stolen, I can have someone scoop my eyes out and chop off my fingers too!
Yay! The wonders of technology!

Cool. A chance to show off my new mod. Still a work in progress, I've only done the lid so far... http://www.geocities.com/derenthal/
Long standing characters in the game who reach past a cerain level or accomplish a certain quest get to have their character appear in a comic book ...
You, sir, are a genius. What uber-geek wouldn't want to see their online persona as a four color hero or villan?
Isn't Lobo already a DC character?
Yes, and he would destroy Batman, no sweat. I recall Lobo fighting after having limbs torn off and being riddled with hundreds of bullet holes....gonna take more than a psycho with a utility belt to beat Lobo.
Nah, IIRC, Microsoft prefers to exploit Mexican labor...for the X-Box anyway.
My Bic always does the trick...just don't breathe too deeply afterwards. ;)
Heh, thanks OS X...add this to the list of bugs that Mac users are immune to.

Someone's been reading Gibson's All Tomorrow's Parties?
I'm starting to wonder which of Gibson's projections aren't going to come true in my lifetime.
They are a business, if they want to make money in China, then they need to play by China's rules
Exactly. Savvy Chinese users will probably just find a way to go to http://tw.yahoo.com from now on.

Too bad it's only in Japan right now.
Coming to the US faster than you think.

Weird, since when does a company for a law to be passed so they can post decoy files on a P2P network? Haven't they been doing this already?
Maybe there's something more to it. Just posting garbage files isn't really "agressive."
