sad thing about gentoo on such a old machine is about the time you get done doing the compiles of packages the patched version is released as many months have gone by.
Its a never ending loop of compiles. I use gentoo on my faster machines but put debian on my sparc 20 for simplicity sake.
After working with my laptop install of gentoo for weeks I had to give it up because there are just so many things that will not work out of the box....... yeah yeah yeah I couldn't deal anymore so I switched back to microsoft.
Flamebait or not all my shit on my laptop works now. Including my neat little media keys on the front, my win modem and my lcd brightness hotkeys.:-P
I will continue running linux on my workstations since they work out fine for what i need to do.
well if you read the man page on make you would see that the -j flag is used for number of jobs. Obviously he was trying to load the box down more than doing a normal make.
do we get to watch when larry gets freaky with the girlie?
I hope so cause I hated the censor box going up and down instead of being able to watch larry get it on with the chick.
The main thing that the gentleman was speaking of is entirely true. I mean one of the big things is for Linux to someday become a alternative OS for other users (at least that is what I would like to see) but how is this possible when there is no windows alternative programs?
I built a PVR with a ATI card and used windows 2000. I decided to try and install linux on it as I have used linux for four years now and have reverted back to windows on the machine because it does record and it does play and record at the same time. Linux and pvr's are just not kickin right now and thats how it is....unless I pick up a book and learn C++ or whatever language and write the programs myself.
why not splurge and use gimp? i mean gimp is as versatile as photoshop and doesn't take 30 seconds from the time you run the program to start up like some other ones we know.;-)
It makes me laugh to see people of this nature that are quite content with life now because the job they have is thier 'career job' and everything is so smooth. The reason it is funny to me is because about three years ago I dropped college because I thought my job would be great and would provide a lifetime of income and knowledge but now as I sit here looking at the letter givin to me by my job of three and half years that says October 22nd is the final day of the company I am having to reconsider.
Jobs are scarce right now in the IT field and if you don't specialize in just about EVERYTHING that a company wants then the luck of you getting in isn't all that high. I am starting back to school in January of 2003 to get a degree for personal fufillment of knowledge and also a degree will not limit me to just IT type jobs. It gives me the option of many different jobs because I soaked up four to six years to get a degree. I am sure people have other ideas but this is just my opinion. Hope it helps some current people to reconsider if they thought about quitting school.
I have adsl and was wondering if it would be possible to purchase a second dsl modem and use the same telephone line that my first dsl modem is using in order to have two dsl modems online at the sametime. Would this be possible?
I downloaded the latest trailer and am pretty dissapointed. Kind of a waste of time IMO.
I wonder if this is a indication on how long it takes for moderators or whoever is running the show to post messages?
emerge unmerge gentoo debian
probably for the money they are charging I could buy a crotch rocket of some sort and even have a chance of killing myself.
Rezound Hompage
Mod me up for having good info. I need it.
Somebody needs to take over the market from Microsoft and I do not see why Apple would not be the perfect company to do this.
Rock on apple.

could someone please provide me with the equation if mine has a turntable?
I like this one as it holds my money and makes some neat sounds. Has a mic and scanner all for $29.99. Math teacher was fond of it too!

does this mean sco is taking over gentoo....damn...time to find another distro.
The bicycle movie. I really wish this was still being made. This movie was very nice. Jumps and stuff plus the soundtrack was nice.
Too bad the Server Too Busy error wasn't setup as a Blue Screen of Death. Then it would have been truely windows like.
pretty neat stuff first post?

Next week they will introduce Good Old Adventures Version 2.0 - Lagless version

first offense shut it off

if they don't offer a shell this cgi probably violates the AUP.

not sure why you would want to buy it when you can download the free version at counterstrike.net
Is there any word on if there will be a port to *nix?
