When it is clear that a country like China, who already has a significant impact on the economy of the US, is able to make advances in the embryonic stem cell area that we aren't due to regulations, that could end up being a strong argument to relax restrictions in the US.

You could be right. However, Regardless of when life begins, there are moral implications in doing research on human embryos. Given China's human rights record, they are not a country to be emulated.

You could also make the same argument with regards to labor law. IE, if it wasn't for our pesky workers protection laws, we could open slave labor shops in the USA, and better compete economically with China. Well that's true, but is that the kind of country you want to live in?

In a democracy where the rights of all are respected, economics should not be the deciding factor on issues like these with moral implications.

You're not taking into account two important reasons for the budget increases.

    1. Inflation. According to the Consumer price index, an item that cost $100 in 1980, cost $143.57 in 1988.

    2. Population increase. The US population in 1980 was 226.5 million. In 1988 it was 243.9 million. An increase of 7.7%. So there were more people to pay taxes, and more people to receive benefits.

What prevents smaller webcasters from hooking up with those indie labels? A record label can set any license they want. If SuperBanana Records(and the artist) wants to let webcasters play 'It Aint Easy Being Yellow' by the Bananaettes, so be it, right?

    Lots of potential lawsuits here.

The Lord of the Rings is a great piece of work and the fact is that if the One Ring ever went to Gondor then Sauron would've noticed it, GAME OVER.

According to the books, Sauron thinks the ring IS in Gondor. For starters, he knows the hobbits have it. He knows that the hobbits have been traveling with Gandalf and Aragorn. And he knows Aragorn is Isildur's heir. Sauron fully expects the ring to go to Gondor, and for Aragorn to claim it.

So, while your correct that the the ring's deture to Gondor was not true to the story, and Sauron shouldn't know where the ring is - the fact PJ changed the story line doesn't hurt anything. We can still expect Sauron to behave the same way. He wants the ring, he thinks it is in Gondor, so he attacks Gondor with all his might.
