  3. Can you prove GPL violation w/o violating DMCA? on Linux: the GPL and Binary Modules · · Score: 1

There's no real way to tell if someone is violating the GPL unless you violate the DCMA, right? For example, you'd have to reverse engineer a Windows library in order to prove that they are (hypothetically) putting GPL code into their commercial product but doing that would be a violation of the DMCA.

Try building a master document with MS Word. You'll need support to keep it from jacking up your subdocuments or becoming corrupt. Oh yeah, I also love the background save feature which says it has saved (even though the network might have gone down in the middle of the save) and when you reload your document there's nothing but garbage.

  10. Re:misleading on Apple Releases iTunes for Windows · · Score: 1

Yes, but it is assumed that the music is what you pay a monthly fee for. So, you have access to the music. Add to that free burning with no extra fees and you get a misleading concept. No? I consider paying 99 cents a track (or whatever) in order to burn a "burning fee".

  11. misleading on Apple Releases iTunes for Windows · · Score: 1

    The web page says:

Free burning and encoding - Burn unlimited audio CDs and encode music from CDs in pristine AAC or MP3 -- with no extra fees.

Isn't that just a tad bit misleading? Wow all the free music I could ever want and I can burn it to cd without paying a cent! Awesome!

Here's my nightmare vision of the future of money:

People access their e-money via Microsoft Passport. Passport may only be accessed via Palladium compliant hardware and WINDOWS. Passport will also require a Palladium compliant user identification device such as a subdermal chip. Those password things are just too insecure and fingerprint scanners are foiled with jello.

I know, I know... Someone get me my glass of warm milk and I'll go back to bed.

Next generation user authentication would then be a subdermal chip like Verichip. Thanks, but no thanks.
