I did the two optical mice to detect translation and rotation. While it worked really good on a smooth AND regular surface, result would vary greatly on anything else. In fact, both mice didn't answered the same on the same surface so it was necessary to calibrate them before usage.
When they where calibrated, the result was VERY interesting to see. Ask it to advance 30 CM, then turn pi/2 rad, then 30 CM... when it's moving, push it, and it get right back on track, turn exactly those pi/2 rad and hit the target =)
Well, if you try scanning a 35mm negative at 5MDPI per inch, it's ok, since they are about the equivalent of 18-20 mpx. But if you print that 20mpx 35mm negative on a let's say 8x12 sheet and try to scan that one at the 480mpx -- you will get those 480mpx but they will only represent those 20mpx actually "stored" on the negative.. plus noise:)
Well, if you rotate using a transposition, it's then a part of the algorithm.. and then that doesn't help much more since when asserting the security of an algorithm we must take into account that it is fully known..
You where lucky.. I had to use a serial connection along with a parallel one since I had a mouse on my second serial port (and I had to disconnect that beloved external modem =) ) But still, we did it too;)
Well I can't understand why I should be forced to give them my precious mhz to verify if what I'm doing on MY computer is legal. If they gaved us a separated device that would give me those damn cpu clocks I would not really mind.. but now unless the gov. is paying me for those lost clock cycle I won't let anything like this run on my computer!
double clicking on the real.zip didn't executed the content of it.. it only started up winzip that asked what I wanted to do with it. People that then double-click on that file will get burned..
Forget your 500$/mbps.. Here I have an unlimited connection from which I can get a whole 10 mbs / hour (0.00277mbps). Since I pay 15$ per month it amounts to 5400$/mbps;)
Well, what about all the networks that are carrying whatever the user send ? They are doing exactly the same thing. What's the difference? And yes, those networks are sending those cowardly hidden encrypted packet willingly, knowing it CAN contain something illegal too!
heho.. quake 3 on a P3-500 and a TNT run just fine so I don't know how it could have had trouble with a V3 ??
Sure now I have replaced that TNT for a geforce2 TI and I can play many recent game, althought I must use the smallest graphic details (try playing nfs underground with that kind of a computer..) =)
I was saying that for the people who download them but doesn't distribute it. And still, it's the retail value of the//content// you got if it's sold at 5$ (7$ was the CAN amount). Perhaps the medium is worth more but you didn't got that -- only the data.
But I agree if you are redistributing it, it may cost you much more!
Anyone got an idea of what is the law in Canada? I still hope we don't have something like the DMCA (yet&never)!
Ok, I won't use them all to take picture and have them processed at RITZ.. well, there's not even a Ritz camera in Quebec city. Anyway, I would like to build something interesting from a case of those camera so if anyone could help me figure out where/how to buy one, I would be pretty happy =)

(1) for purposes of commercial advantage or private financial gain, or

From your text, it seems that we must copy less than 1k$ worth of movie if we don't want to be treated on the criminal case. What is a DVD worth ? I usually buy them at blockbuster and I pay around 7$ can (average). I buy them used since I don't mind if the case is not perfect, or anything like that, as long as the content is OK. So, I'm willing to pay 7$ can -> 5$ us for the content of the movie, and that's the retail price.
Now, we got 1000$ - 1$ to distribute on 5$ of DVD content (you only got the content.. perhaps we could assume less than that since usually you don't have the credits!). That make 199 dvd per 6 month (assuming you distribute them all evenly) or 399 DVDs per year. There is no such thing as 399 movies worth being copied a year, so no way anyone downloading movies for his own good will ever be sued in the criminal departement!
And it say's exactly that we are UPLOADING the data to the bigger computer (server) and so this patent is not clearly written and should be voided. Anyway, as long as we don't need a technician to send the data to the distant computer, we are not infringing their patent.. right ?? =)
What if you use a monitor that give out 85hz at 1600x1200 (NEC FP955).. would not you want the game to calculate it's physics every 1/85th of a second, and render it ? If you run at 1/60th, some frame will be doubled to fit in between.. don't seem pretty good ! And no, I won't use 60hz.. but anyway, my CPU won't hold it... FOR NOW:)

I've always though the 64 from the nintendo 64 came from the 64 MB cardrige they where using ..

I don't know how it would be faster to have C++ code that run in circle compared to a Java code that compute the solution..

If the CRIA sues me, I'll just laught at them since it's perfectly legal to download / copy / backup / listen to any copyrighted or not music =)
:(
The only problem I face is my 28.8 connection as I don't think they will ever try to sue me

Try googling "miserable result" (without quotes) and hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button :)
that's what I find : http://www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html
Well, sco open without any problem .. I've refreshed it a few times and all went fast and smooth :( :)
Maybe they are down, now ?
It`s that against the DMCA ? I thought it was illegal to decrypt something in the USA ? Could not the author sue those company (if he was found) ? :)
Well, this one works great : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031208

I've just seen it today and I've been really impressed. Remind me of braveheart but still a very good story!
well, I NEED that car to get to the nearest city while I still have my 19" monitor to see the latest DVD movie ...
