right, this is what my doctor said. If you get some disease for which stem cells/cord blood is the solution, they aren't going to want your cord blood because YOU HAVE CANCER! You'll go to a bank for someone else's cord blood. We offered to bank, but most hospitals dont collect cord blood for banks.

please stop comparing this to Gears. The difference on gears is that they were the publisher of that game and thus having funded it, they own it and can make all the decisions about what content to release when and at what price. as for GH, this is activision's call. blame them if you want to blame anyone.

"the way valve treated its customers"???? How did they screw you? They took their time making a great game. then they released it. if you wanted to play it then you paid and you can play it. Are you claiming lost fun during the years it was in development? BTW, there is NO game developer in the WORLD that gives so much back to their customers like Valve. I bought half life and as a bonus, I got deathmatch, Counterstrike, DoD and a huge number of netcode improvements and upgrades over a 6 year period. No other developer does that. I know, I'm one too.

With piracy so rampant, game developers NEVER see royalties and its harder and harder to scrape togeother enough cash to make a good game nowadays. Its up to you. Buy games and support the govenment in actions like this and have a healthy game biz, or pirate away and watch all the best developers go under.

I'm a game producer that has worked on online games, I will say that this is a very good thing. You don't know the trouble that we go through to make sure that people do not cheat in an online game and you know what, they figure out a way around it anyway. This is the first time that we have hardware level control over the game .exe's integrity. With MS's code sign system the game .exe is not hackable and this is a good thing for all of us. Hacking RUINS online games and if this is what they have to do to stop it then ok.

NOT TRUE. The reason for poor night vision with lasik is because your pupil opens larger then the zone that was lasered. However if you are looking at a monitor, your pupil is not open very much. My vision post-lasik is perfect when looking at a monitor. In fact, a monitor is close enough that even if you have 20/40 post surgery, you will see the monitor perfectly.

  17. Re:Don't Do It! on Laser Vision Surgery for Developers? · · Score: 2, Informative

Very not true. It's amazine how little FACT there is on /. sometimes. Lasik uses a laser to correct the shape of your cornea. However they can not reshape your whole cornia, just the front partthat you look through. This is usually about 6mm in diameter. However, in the dark your pupil opens up and can open wider then the zone that was corrected. In this case you will see a halo around a light at night. This is common, however they have gotten better at measuring the size of your pupil and correcting a larger zone. The larger the zone, the deeper they need to cut to get a correct shape. So, if you have a bad perscription and thick corneas, then the can correct you with a big optic zone and you should have good night vision. I had bad vision (-6.75) and the next day I was 20/20. I'm only sorry I did not do it earlier.

It does that too. You just press the DSC button on the dash and firmly press the gas pedal. Instant BURNOUT.
