    Last time I was in Hong Kong many of the phone booths were being used as APs for the phone companies pre-paid wifi network. Seemed like a great idea to make use of their even spread across the city.

    The problem with the Galaxy Nexus is that Samsung are in charge of a updates for a lot of the variants of this phone. There has been some debate on whether it should be called a true "nexus" phone at all.

    Try Quickpic (free on google play) not only is it the best image viewer I've used, it also has it's own set as wallpaper feature that lets you crop images as a standard rectangle, or you can use Nova launcher (also free on play) which will let you set wallpapers as the standard T or as a square.

    The problem with step 1 is that the average person no longer trusts a major sites opinion any more than a crappy review site. If the result shows in Google's first page a lot of people will take this as meaning it is legitimate, and generally even one or two negative reviews can make people start to ignore the 100's of positive ones. That is what a lot of these review farming sites seem to rely on, and most seem to manage to be in the top 5 search results for a lot of products, usually by linking or copying several legit reviews as well as spamming their own.

    Our local government tried to reduce peak hour traffic by getting businesses in the CBD area to implement flexible hours (i.e. I believe the suggested start hours were anywhere between 6am and 10am, instead of the usual fixed 8 or 9am start), somehow all it did was stretch our peak hour out, instead of deadlock from 7am-8am we now have it from 6am-10am.

    People whose cards were cancelled were contacted via SMS or email to let them know (depending on what contact details were available.)

    Adblock with large filtersets tends to bog down on slashdot because the sheer amount of text/code it has to work through on each page (especially with the new comment system enabled) try disabling adblock to see if it helps.

    ATI's 9xxx (9600 and up) series beat NVidia's (underpowered and overheating) FX series chips by a massive amount. Definately more recent than 3dfx.

    The CIA world fact book says as of 2006 there were 233 million cell phones in use in the US for a population of just over 300 million... that's a vast majority of the population with access to a mobile, especially when you consider the number of internet users savvy enough to want to sign onto gmail in the first place with cell phones is most likely an even higher percentage.

    At least PB users tend to comment on the quality of the files contained in each torrent, which makes picking out bogus or just plain bad torrents pretty easy. A lot of other trackers either have no comments (public tracker) or dissalow negative (private tracker) comments.

    The Australian ran that picture in full colour over half a page, accompanied by 1 and a half pages on the struggle, im glad some media are getting what they can out there, most other news/media here were hard pressed to do a small column.

    Because it's just as, if not more efficient to have a couple of hundred kb extra loaded in Firefox taking care of ads, than having the entire Privoxy service running all the time.

    In the comments section it's mentioned that the Encoded/Hashed blacklist is larger and more frequently updated than the plain text one.
    I assume to prevent phishers using a live plain text list to know when they have been found.

    When I got around to replaying the game, I decided to try a female character (finished it first time as a male) and was amazed to see how many quests you could finish just by sleeping with the quest giver...

    ...or like this http://www.energyrating.gov.au/ ? Every major appliance in Australia now has one of these large stickers on the front, it makes choosing an efficient appliance extremely easy. New cars on display also have to show a standardized fuel consumption sticker on the front windscreen as well.

    Perhaps if you're really concerned with what your 9yo see's online, you should actually surf the net with them. Anyone that young really needs direct supervision while online and your parenting shouldn't be left upto the goverment.

    As much as Tom's seems to always come across as a fanboy site, The Inq is probably the single mose unreliable tech/business rumour site on the internet, especially with their lack of any solid refrences to 90% of the things they post.

    A local car spray shop has been advertising heat sensitive paint jobs for at least the last 5 years (mainly for bikes and smaller sports cards probably due to cost) the paint is a usually a metallic purple on warm days, and goes a green or blue when the engine heats it up or if left in direct sunlight. I can't really see anything that makes this any different.
