Geeks have been making multimedia PVR type Linux boxes like this for the living room for ages now. Nice to see that some brand name is getting in on the game for those of us that don't have time to custom build something.
This sucks, it's only for Windows and Mac... leaving out us Linux users once again.
If you want to request a Linux client (like I did), just email them at contact@lindenlab.com
If we all send enough emails, someone there will get the message. I really want to see more things like this run natively under Linux.
tuxmagazine.com also provides free magazines in PDF format. I've read through all of them and must say they are very good. But I do miss being able to hold something in my hands while I lie back in bed. A laptop is too awkward for casual reading of PDFs.
... this wasn't figured out by tons of geeks using these "super deal" P4's until someone ran benchmark tests.
I mean, come on, in everyday use like browsing the web or reading your email, who will notice the difference between 1.7 and 3.4?
You mean "the shocker"? Might know it, but have never used it.
Oh, hold on, you mean the MS crash recovery thing... you know, us real geek have forgotten about, as we all run Linux now.
What if I've taken apart my ipod and rebuilt it as an attachment on the side of my glass frames and it runs on rechargable batteries which continuously charge via the tiny solar panels I've sown into the shoulders of my jacket?
I will wear what I like and what I feel comfortable in. Sitting in front of a computer screen for the whole day, every day, should not require stiff itchy shirts and pants. Screw that!
if you want to play table top D&D but don't want to be bogged down by all the rules and time required, check out
Heroscape! It really is an awesome
and quick game to play which isn't overwhelming.
She sent this to someone at rabble.ca, which is were I copied and pasted it from:

Thanks so much!
I have a pretty strong case of defence at my end
including many letters of thanks from the Minister of
the Environment and the Minister of Labour. To want to
sue me for $2,000,000 is just a way of "SLAPPing me."
"SLAPP" stands for "Strategic Lawsuits Against Public
Participation". SLAPPs are legal actions (usually
defamation actions) launched for the primary purpose
of shutting down criticism, and without a strong cause
of action. The plaintiff's goal in a SLAPP is not to
win the lawsuit, but is rather to silence a critic by
instilling fear of large legal costs and the spectre
of large damage awards. Despite their right to free
speech, critics may be frightened into silence e.g.,
taking down websites or comments made on line - if
they
are threatened with a defamation-based SLAPP.
This method will not work with me. I've got way to
much evidence at my end. I could actually counter sue
for what I have been through so we'll see what
happens. Either way, I'm glad it's out there in the
media. Folks really need to know. With letters like
yours it's great to know the message is getting out
there. Thanks for your support!

Everybody knows MS is dead in the long run.
Maybe this uprising in France will spark interest in similiar uprisings in the US. The US is ripe for it afterall, with a huge gap between rich and poor, people losing jobs to foreign countries, religious fanatics gaining power in politics, the government spying on you and having unquestionable powers, suspicious presidential elections in a 2 party system, etc...
Geesh, isn't it about time US? Are you gonna let the wimpy French out-uprise you? Hell, you're all even armed!
The frequency is classified information.

Hmmm, are you one of those people that spends hours and days working out the strange coincidences with the "lost" numbers?

Seems there is some kind of conspiracy going on with these numbers.
Or was that something else.

which is based on slackware. Aren't here a bunch of other awesome distro's, besides slackware itself, that are based on slackware?
I guess Amazon wussed out and is complying to his legal threats.
Only problem is that it would be reduced to playing only UT2004, Doom 3, Enemy Territory, Quake 4 and a slew of Loki ports (from about 6 years ago).

just wait until the slashdot crowd gets finished writing their reviews.

I've known a lot of geeks and nerds, but have yet to meet even one that actually uses a pocket protector! Maybe I'm not "in" with the real geek crowd?
You're home on a friday night reading slashdot!!! You're either a geek or married.
All I knows is thats the geek girls are hawt!

Only the hollywood version of the "geek" has gone mainstream. If people knew and understood real geeks, nobody would want to be one.
... make me glad I'm a Linux user. A quick ps auwx will show me if there are evil deeds afoot.

This parent is not a troll! That is a very valid question that is not being talked about enough in the major media.
