  1. Money hunting on Japan's Proposed 30-Year Robot Program · · Score: 0

Am I the only one to think this is UTTER bullshit...

Just because this project tend to put together at least 2 different technologies:
on for the vector, the body of the robot, this one is more or less under control with stupid Sony or Toshiba robots playing piano or dancing (even crapping on the carpet for some) REALLY eyecatching for the masses.
On for the brain, AI, which is going NOWHERE for decade. Even an earthworm is smarter than whatever software we designed.

I really see this much more as some kind of budgetary hidding for something else rather than true research. Beside to work on artificial intellingence it might be interesting to understand psychology of peoples... And from what I saw since i'm here (JP) it's nothing they can understand. But BTW they tend to act pretty well like if they already were robot barking 'saimasse' without looking at you when you enter a shop or move in and out of their sight in the said shop.

When you try to explain something they immediatly bitch by saying they are not computer technicians... they just want the work done, without knowing anything about how to do it...
I don't want to troll... but it's difficult to blame the last virus for not beeing on time for a project when you are on something else than windows.

Wrong, as a French in exil in Japan (since 6 long weeks)... I Can tell you that the moneo system is just emerging. (a card that you refill with money completly anonymously up to a certain amount, but can be merged with a regular credit card, in this case I don't get how it is useful btw). In France: Written checks are slowly disapearing, Blue Card emitted by banks are everywhere (with ID chips) available with the "visa" option Use of credit card is as marginal as air cooling, you can use an American Express card on some place, but most of the time you are laughed at (maybe they should remove 'american' from the name) Real money is used for little things. But can be refused for 'Big things' unless you have a certificate from the bank where you withdrew it. (Big starting with small cars or motorbikes and aircrafts carrier spare parts) Blue card are always authenticated when used to pay something and money used is immediatly withdrawn from the holder account throught centralized network (same as ATM machines). Some banks offer a 30 days delays for withdrawal of the money, the bank pay for the goods and then 30 days after take the money from the holder account.

Not expensive, mechanical parts where all from mainstrean Renault cars, varying between years of production between R8, R12 or R16 for the last one. Easy to build, easy to repare, easy to drive and to win with. But half as small as the Hemicuda which is still a fscking dream car...
